Elizabeth Olsen Net Worth: How the Younger Olsen Sister Makes Her Money
Elizabeth Olsen is having quite a year. She starred in what is now the biggest box-office hit of all time, Avengers: Endgame, she got engaged, and now she has her own TV show — more than one, in fact.
Thanks in no small part to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, she has amassed a fortune and has been the most visible of the Olsen family in recent years. All that said, her twin sisters, who were famous before her, have an even more impressive net worth, even though they work mostly behind the scenes in fashion now.
How Elizabeth Olsen got her start
When Olsen first got wide attention as an actress in the indie hit Martha Marcy May Marlene, that proved she wasn’t just riding her older sisters’ coattails. That story, about a girl caught up in a cult, was much edgier and more eyebrow-raising than anything Mary-Kate and Ashley ever did.
Olsen’s breakout role earned her critical praise and an Independent Spirit Award nomination. From there she proved herself versatile, moving from more indie movies like Liberal Arts with Josh Radnor and big blockbusters like the 2014 Godzilla.
That was the same year she made her first Marvel Cinematic Universe appearance, in the second end credits scene of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Her appearance was brief but memorable, as it introduced us to the Scarlet Witch and her twin Quicksilver.
Quicksilver didn’t last long, but Wanda did, and her character has gone on to reappear in four more movies with the Avengers.
Her character was so powerful that for a moment, it looked like she could beat the formidable Thanos single-handedly in Avengers: Endgame. Who needs all those other guys?
Olsen’s clout increases
With the MCU under her belt, Olsen has continued appearing in smaller films, playing Audrey Williams, first wife of Hank in I Saw the Light, where Hank was played by her MCU costar Tom Hiddleston. She also gave memorable performances in Ingrid Goes West and Wind River, among others.
Now Olsen has branched out into producing with the web series Sorry for Your Loss, where she plays a writer trying to cope with her husband’s death. That series has been renewed for a second season, which will premiere this October.
And that’s not the only series she’s signed onto. She will also reprise the role of Wanda in the Disney+ MCU series WandaVision in 2021 with her partner Vision (Paul Bettany). That same year, she will appear in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, and that will mark her first MCU movie without most of the other Avengers.
The net worth of the Olsens
All this has paid off handsomely for Olsen, who is worth an estimated $9 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. But even though Olsen has been much more visible recently than her twin sisters, their net worth is considerably higher. Thanks to Full House, their seemingly endless series of kid videos and their current fashion work, Mary-Kate and Ashley have between them $400 million in the bank.
We’re sure there’s no sibling rivalry there, though. Olsen is also content with her personal life, having become engaged to her boyfriend Robbie Arnett. She can legitimately say she made her own way. In an interview with Sam Jones, she talked about going into acting even though she knew she would be accused of nepotism.
“I always had this need to prove myself to myself, and to everyone around me, that I worked really hard. The fear was that you don’t earn and deserve the things you work for because of who you’re naturally associated with,” she said.
