Ellen Pompeo Slams ‘The Bachelorette’ Creator for His Tweet Against Kelly Ripa

Kelly Ripa revealed that she isn’t a fan of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette at all. That is probably shocking considering her talk show Live With Kelly and Ryan is on the same network.

Since she made those comments, host Chris Harrison and creator, Mike Fleiss responded to her on Twitter. Now another ABC giant is getting into the mix. Why is Ellen Pompeo defending Ripa after dissing the show? Here is everything you need to know.

Kelly Ripa previously called The Bachelorette creepy

The reality dating show came up on Live With Kelly and Ryan and Ripa wasn’t afraid to say what she truly thought about The Bachelor.

I can’t stand the idea of 25 exceptional women fighting over one ordinary fella, in my opinion. You know how I feel, ladies, we are too special to be arguing over a guy.” She then added, “Having said that, all of you women watch that gross, gross show.”

She didn’t give The Bachelorette a pass either. She said it was “just as creepy” to have a woman star in it.

The Bachelorette creator Mike Fleiss said the show pays for Ripa’s salary

The show creator responded to the talk show host’s comments on Twitter. He took a dig at Ripa’s paycheck.

“Easy, @KellyRipa … #TheBachelor franchise pays your salary!” he wrote. That’s partially in reference to both The Bachelorette and Live With Kelly and Ryan being on ABC.

The Bachelor has been on for 23 seasons and The Bachelorette is starting Season 15. The franchise also has another spinoff with Bachelor in Paradise.

Chris Harrison also tweeted in response to Ripa’s comment with “Look out #BachelorNation ⁦@KellyRipa⁩ is coming after you and your “disgusting” Monday night habit.”

Season 15 star of The Bachelorette, Hannah Brown appeared on Live With Kelly and Ryan and responded to Ripa’s comments. “Like you, I didn’t really follow the show, wasn’t a big fan,” she said. “But, being a part of the show, it’s not women fighting against each other. Really, some of my best friends came from the show and were really supportive. When you have a group of 30 people together, there’s going to be people who don’t like each other. That’s simple facts.”

Now there is another person who is tied to another ABC show that is getting into the mix to defend Ripa. She is also known as one of TV’s highest-paid women.

Ellen Pompeo is the star of Grey’s Anatomy which will be on ABC for 17 seasons. She tweeted a response to Fleiss after he claimed The Bachelorette pays for Ripa’s salary.

She wrote, “Okay @fleissmeister… that’s some handle bro! Your show does NOT pay @KellyRipa salary. Also we don’t attack successful women on our network and men certainly cannot take credit for their success. Don’t get me started on your show cuz I’m a savage…. #bachelorsoooowhite.”

It looks like the heavyweights of three different ABC shows are still going at it. At least Kelly Ripa isn’t completely alone against Mike Fleiss.
