How could characters like Emma Watson’s Hermione have paved the way for Captain Marvel?
Emma Watson’s version of Hermione and Captain Marvel have certain similarities. Both are extremely well-written and well-developed female characters. Both characters fight for what they believe is right. So it makes sense that characters like Hermione could have gotten movie audiences ready for heroines like Captain Marvel.
Hermione is widely acknowledged as extremely intelligent, both by her peers and her professors. She is, as we mentioned above, seen by some as the real hero of the Harry Potter series. Without her, Harry and Ron certainly wouldn’t have gotten very far. She is also, as we’ve mentioned, a fan-favorite character.
So perhaps characters like Hermione could have led to movie studios realizing the power of a well-written heroine. Other heroines, such as Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games, may have helped as well. Both of these characters were probably helpful leading up to Marvel’s first female-led solo movie, Captain Marvel. Heroines like Katniss and Captain Marvel probably owe a lot to characters like Hermione for coming first and most likely doing a bit to pave the way.
