Where does everyone’s storylines pick up in ‘Empire’ Season 6?

Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) is hiding from the federal government who want him on money laundering charges, so he wears a Bob Marley-like wig and glasses, and has a new girlfriend.

She’s a singer at a nightclub and Damon Cross’ (Wood Harris) daughter who is blissfully unaware of any relationship between the two men. Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) capitalized on her newfound social media fame and joined a daytime talk show, similar to The View where she’s openly discussed no longer dating Lucious and doesn’t get involved with Empire anymore.

Andre (Trai Byers), still recovering from his heart transplant, is the permanent CEO of Empire and secured deals with Fox Sports and more, with a son on the way.

He’s also working on a new documentary about the company, starring his younger brother Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) as their father. However, federal prosecutors went public with the pending charges against Lucious in an attempt to scare him out of hiding and turn himself in.

Does anyone die in ‘Empire’ Season 6 Episode 1?

There is already a death, possibly two in the premiere episode of the final season when Andre’s prison “friend” Mouse visits him looking to collect on a debt.

At first Mouse wants a job, but then gets greedy after realizing that Andre is now the permanent CEO of Empire. After Mouse paid him an unexpected visit to his house, the two met alone where again his felon friend attempted to extort him.

He then pulled out a knife and lunged at Andre with it, who fought back and punched him until the blade fell on the ground. The oldest Lyon then grabbed Mouse around his neck and squeezed yelling at him, until the felon fell lifelessly to the ground.

As he strangled Mouse, the mother of his child, Terry, seemed to go into unexpected labor and laid on the ground as blood poured from her.

Who killed Lucious Lyon?

Several people have a motive for killing the Empire owner, starting with Cross if he finds out the nature of Lyon’s relationship with his daughter. Additionally, Andre could pull the trigger because he finally has Empire and the only thing that could ruin it is his dad’s image, especially if they don’t have the documents to clear Lucious as Andre claims.

While no motive has been revealed for Hakeem to kill his dad, he already has anger and resentment built up towards him, so anything could set him off. Additionally, Hakeem used to have a thing for guns after he got shot.

His former lover Cookie could also be the triggerman as she’s made it clear he’s caused her so much pain, especially after the revelation of his oldest son, Kingsley (A.Z. Kelsey).

If his new love finds anything out about her father and Lyon’s history, she may kill him out for feeling like he used her. Finally, don’t forget about aspiring rapper Freda Gatz (Bre-Z) who already tried to kill Lyon, but instead shot his middle son, Jamal.

At the end of the episode, viewers see her for the first time in a few seasons as she’s out of jail and pats a gun on her waist saying, “If I see him again, I won’t miss.” Who killed Lucious Lyon? Keep watching Empire Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST on FOX to find out.
