A lot happened on the latest episode of HBO’s ‘Euphoria’

Episode 5 of Euphoria brought a lot more drama for characters, Nate and Maddy. Following Nate’s bruising on Maddy’s neck, Maddy’s mother pressed charges against Nate’s family. This case, of course, hindered the reputation of Nate’s father, Cal Jacobs, who already felt guilty for hiding his sexual orientation from his family.

Additionally, the relationship between Jules and Rue only got more complicated, especially since the two literally sealed their relationship in permanent ink. Although some characters said Jules is a good influence on Rue, Jules already feels the weight of her responsibility on her shoulders. In a way, Jules has become Rue’s newest addiction.

After ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ aired, people on Twitter started making jokes

Yet, even though all the hardship and anguish expressed on the show, fans of Euphoria manage to find the humor in the latest episode. While the episode aired, fans tweeted jokes and memes regarding the characters on the series.

Some commented on the awkward scene at the carnival between Nate, Cal, Jules, and Rue. In it, Cal dropped a container of chili as he handed it off to Jules.

While some fans poked fun at HBO’s drama, others noticed the hardships of the characters in the episode. From abusive relationships and obsessive personalities, this episode touched on multiple heavy topics.

Others felt sympathy for characters in ‘Euphoria,’ especially Jules

Some Euphoria fans took to Twitter, expressing their sympathy for characters like Jules and Maddy, particularly because this episode dove deeper into their personal relationships.

“Jules is under so much pressure. Like, imagine being responsible for someone being clean. This is a great representation of how being in a relationship with someone who doesn’t love themselves first can affect everyone around them,” said one Twitter user.

“Exactly what I was trying to explain to my boyfriend,” replied another Twitter user. “Being a young trans woman, she has so much more growing and exploring to do and now she just feels tied down because an addict became addicted to her. I feel for Rue but I really feel for Jules.”

These relationships exist in real life, fans explained. Some viewers touched on the fact that Jules, as a transgender woman, is also going through a period of self-discovery. Having to look after Rue is a heavy burden to carry.

“This is so true. I have seen this happen to many people around me and it’s just hurtful. You can’t be responsible for someone’s growth or health, that’s up to them. That would just bring Jules down. Plus, I feel like she kissed her cause that’s her comfort zone and she was just hurt and scared for what happened with Tyler/Nate. She has big love for Rules but not that kind of love in my perspective,” said another Twitter user.

Based on the preview for the newest Euphoria episode, McKay faces a hard reality about his career. Presumably, Jules will have to make some tough decisions about her friendship with Rue. New episodes of Euphoria premiere Sunday nights on HBO and HBO Go.
