Every Detail We Know About Christina El Moussa’s New HGTV series
Flip or Flop co-star Christina El Moussa is going solo and getting her very own show on HGTV.
El Moussa, who currently stars on the hit home renovation series alongside her ex-husband, Tarek, announced the news on Wednesday, June 27.
The 34-year-old told People that she’s “excited to do my own thing. It’s going to be fun and light-hearted. I feel like it’s a win-win.”
Here’s what we know about El Moussa’s new show.
When it will debut and what it will be about
The series will be titled Christina on the Coast and will premiere in early 2019. The eight-episode series will be much more design-focused than Flip or Flop and will show the HGTV star helping clients transform their outdated properties.
“Design is my favorite part of the house-flipping process and I can’t wait to be able to now work directly with clients and create a space they’ve always dreamed of having,” El Moussa said in a press release.
The series will be personal as well
The very first episode will be more personal though. Cameras will follow the mother of two’s own home renovation process for a house she recently bought in Newport Beach after selling the Yorba Linda, California, mansion she shared with her ex. We can also expect cameos from her two children, Taylor and Brayden, and her beau, Wheeler Dealers host Ant Anstead since the series will also document how El Moussa balances her business, her relationship, and motherhood.
“Fans also are deeply vested in her personal life and eager to see ‘what happens next’—so we’re bringing them the opportunity to share in these real-life moments in a way that no one else can,” HGTV and Food Network president Allison Page said.
Tarek’s reaction to the news
El Moussa said that her ex-husband knows that her show got picked up and she shared what his reaction was with ET.
“So, Tarek is aware that I got picked up for Christina on the Coast and he’s very happy for me,” she said. “We’re both really supportive of each other and we both want the best for each other and each other’s success.”
He may be getting his own show too
It was also announced in the press release for El Moussa’s show that the network is in talks with Tarek about doing his own series too. But in case that doesn’t work out, he took to Instagram to see what his followers thought about another potential career he could get into.
“So I have a question….as many of you know hot yoga changed my life. It’s one of the main things that got me through my divorce as well as many other struggles…it’s amazing how hot yoga is therapy for the mind, body and soul,” he wrote. “QUESTION- if I get certified to teach yoga, would anyone come to my classes at Radiant Hot Yoga in Newport Beach? I’d love some feedback before I jump in!”
The feedback was mostly positive as his fans encouraged him to go for it. So we’ll be on the lookout to see if he decides to do his own show or pursue his passion as a yoga instructor.
