Every Marvel Movie Spoiler We Recently Learned: ‘Infinity War’ and More

At Disney’s D23 Expo 2017, there were plenty of big reveals for the studio’s upcoming movies. The company teased the live-action Lion King, revealed the casting decisions for the live-action Aladdin, and also covered Toy Story 4, Coco, and Olaf’s Frozen Adventure. Fans also got a three-minute sizzle reel for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

But what about new reveals from the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Since Marvel loves to tease us with spoilers for its new films, we gathered everything we could on Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther, and more.

1. A cool new poster teases Black Panther

Black Panther, starring Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa, the King of Wakanda, released its first teaser trailer in June for the film, which is set to be released in February of 2018. So at D23, the time simply wasn’t right for any new videos or major spoilers. After all, Marvel still has Thor: Ragnarok coming this November — three months ahead of Black Panther.

But we did get a new poster for the movie, featuring T’Challa in the Black Panther suit alongside Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Okoye (Danai Gurira) looking down on Wakanda. It’s hard to look too far ahead, but there are plenty of reasons to get excited about Black Panther.

2. Mark Ruffalo spoils the end of Infinity War … or does he?

To promote Infinity War, Mark Ruffalo and Don Cheadle — who play the Hulk and War Machine, respectively — went on Good Morning America to talk about a variety of Marvel-related topics. Among them were Ruffalo’s role in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok — which the actor just can’t contain himself over, as seen in a video posted to Good Morning America‘s Twitter account.

In the clip, he really wants to give away some things that he probably shouldn’t say. Cheadle is able to keep his costar at bay briefly, but Ruffalo finally lets slip this huge potential spoiler for Infinity War: “Wait ’til you see this next one, everybody dies!”

Of course, the tone of the interview leads us to believe that this was staged as a way to drum up conversation about the movies. And if that is indeed what Ruffalo and Cheadle were doing, it worked.

3. Black Widow goes blonde

At D23, Marvel revealed the very first teaser for Infinity War. As of now, this trailer has yet to be uploaded online by some covert hero with a cellphone, so we can only go by the descriptions given from those in the room. Among the few true revelations from the trailer is that Black Widow aka Natasha Romanoff, played by Scarlett Johansson, has ditched her trademark red hair in favor of a new blonde look.

Changing up the look makes sense, given the events of Captain America: Civil War. Although we know that Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes were last seen hiding out in Wakanda with T’Challa, it’s unknown where Romanoff has gone. She’s a wanted fugitive for her role in the events of Civil War, but as a former spy, it’s easy to understand how she could stay off the government’s radar.

4. Thor is lost in space

Another moment from the Infinity War teaser that has us captivated is the opening with Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy. As Star-Lord and the gang fly through space, it’s said that they come across the body of Thor, unconscious and floating. They’re able to bring him on board and wake him up, leaving us to wonder how long he might have been out in the cold, dark vacuum of space.

But it must be pointed out that Thor has the third movie in his trilogy, Ragnarok, still to come this November. Could Thor’s situation in the Infinity War trailer be a spoiler for the end of his upcoming movie? If so, it would explain why Marvel was reluctant to release the trailer to the public.

5. The first tease for Ant-Man and the Wasp

Evangeline Lilly, the actress that portrays Hope van Dyne in Ant-Man, is finally getting her chance as the Wasp. Of course, given the title of Marvel’s 2018 film Ant-Man and the Wasp, this isn’t really that much of a spoiler. But D23 put the Wasp suit on display for the first time with a pretty slick banner, and Lilly wasn’t shy about sharing it on social media.

From her Instagram account, Lilly posted the pic with the caption,“Hot off the press, guys! First look at Hope Van Dyne as The Wasp!!!!”

The movie is still a year away, falling in just months after the release of Infinity War. We don’t know many details as of right now, so this is a pretty cool first taste.

6. Thanos is even scarier than we thought

OK, so Thanos is pretty freakin’ scary. Marvel has done an excellent job teasing The Mad Titan with his post-credit scenes in both The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron, as well as his cameo in the plot of Guardians of the Galaxy. What we already know is that he’s ruthless, feared throughout the galaxy, and has an obsession with tracking down the infinity stones.

We also know where several of the stones are, with the Tesseract locked away in Asgard; the mind stone in Vision’s forehead; the reality stone (inside the Aether) in the Collector’s possession; the power stone with the Nova Corps; and the time stone controlled by Dr. Strange. That still leaves the soul stone to be found and eventually put in Thanos’ grasp with the rest of them.

From the teaser trailer that has yet to be released, we learn of Thanos’ first appearance coming through a black hole toward Earth. Rumor has it that Thanos uses two of the stones in his gauntlet to grab ahold of a planet or moon and throw it toward Earth’s heroes. Talk about terrifying!

7. Mjölnir is intact in Infinity War

In the trailer for Ragnarok, we get a few short glimpses of Cate Blanchett’s Goddess of Death, Hela. One such moment shows Thor attempting to throw his hammer, which she surprisingly catches and crushes into pieces. This is a key moment, as Mjölnir is the biggest trademark of Thor and symbolizes his worthiness as the rightful ruler of Asgard.

But a set photo, posted on the Instagram account of Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo, hints that the hammer is back in one piece. Could Dr. Strange have used the time stone to put it back together? Did Hulk smash it back into one piece with some glue? With the events of Ragnarok still off in the distance, we’re simply left to wonder for now.
