Every Moment From Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Royal Wedding You Didn’t See On TV

Millions of people around the world watched Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s royal wedding on May 19, 2018. There were so many memorable and sweet moments from the affair. But there were also quite a few interesting moments that you didn’t see on TV, from a celebrity guest having an emergency just before the event (page 6) to how the stars partied with the royals after the ceremony (page 7)

Here are those behind-the-scenes moments you didn’t know about.

There was an error in the wedding program

There was one glaring error in the wedding program. It listed the bride’s father, Thomas Markle Sr., as the person who was walking her down the aisle instead of Prince Charles.

The palace, however, was aware of the mistake and said in a statement that the official programs could not be changed because they had already been printed before Markle Sr. confirmed he couldn’t make the trip.

“The Order of Service was produced before it became clear that Mr. Thomas Markle would be unable to attend the wedding on medical advice,” the statement read. “As a result, some aspects will be different to what has been printed.”

Markle Sr. spoke out about not being able to attend the wedding following heart surgery. He watched the nuptials on TV and told TMZ, “My baby looks beautiful and she looks very happy. I wish I were there and I wish them all my love and all happiness.”

And as for his daughter’s decision to have Charles walk her down the aisle in his place, Markle Sr. said he was “honored and grateful” that the Prince of Wales gave her away.

The couple broke tradition with their wedding vows

Markle broke royal tradition with her vows by choosing not to use the word “obey.” Unlike royal brides of the past, Markle did not promise to “obey” her husband.

The former actress joined Kate Middleton and Princess Diana who also omitted that word in their wedding vows.

There were several tributes to Prince Harry’s late mother during the ceremony. The couple had Diana’s sister do a reading, but there were also other ways the late princess was honored that we didn’t get to see on TV.

E! News noted that Harry hand-picked some of his mother’s favorite flowers used in Markle’s bouquet from the grounds of Kensington Palace. The prince also chose white garden roses, which Diana loved, to be displayed at the entrance of the chapel.

Additionally, the hymn “Guide Me, O Thy Great Redeemer” played during the wedding was played at the princess’ funeral as well.

We can’t imagine what was going through Markle’s mind when she was marrying into the famous royal family since she kept any signs of wedding jitters under wraps. However, there was one point where even she was overwhelmed by everything happening around her.

That blink-and-you-missed-it moment came after the newlywed’s carriage ride through the town of Windsor. As the couple re-entered the gates of the castle, Markle put her hand over her heart, looked at her husband and said “Oh my gosh.”

Oprah Winfrey looked beautiful in her pink Stella McCartney dress, but that wasn’t what she was supposed to wear. Lady O revealed on Instagram that she actually had a beige dress picked out for the event, but the day before, she noticed that it would show up white in photographs.

Of course, a cardinal fashion rule is that no one except the bride should wear white to a wedding. So McCartney stepped in and saved the day by having the pink dress made overnight for her.

No cameras were allowed inside the couple’s royal wedding reception at Frogmore House where 200 guests gathered on Saturday evening, but royal expert Katie Nicholl got the scoop on all the fun inside.

She learned that Idris Elba decided to play DJ and got everyone up and dancing to some “soul” music. Then, there was a dance off coordinated by The Late Late Show host James Corden who was able to get Princes Charles, William, and Harry involved. Nicholl was also told that George Clooney was seen dancing with both Markle and Kate Middleton. There were even a few drinking games for guests to enjoy including beer pong, which was won by tennis champ Serena Williams.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s magical night ended with a stunning fireworks display that lit up the sky.
