Every Time Cardi B Got Super Candid About Parenthood
Cardi B is never afraid to tell it how it is. From appearances on late night TV to award show acceptance speeches, she always shares the truth with her fans (while never failing to make us laugh, either). Of course, we weren’t surprised to learn that her hilarious honesty was kicked up a notch once she became a mother.
The rapper and her husband, Offset, welcomed their first daughter, Kulture, on July 10, 2018. Since then, she hasn’t been afraid to get totally candid about her experiences as a new parent. Here are Cardi’s best motherhood confessions — and she doesn’t hold anything back.
On how she’s figuring out ‘mommy mode’
In an Instagram story, Cardi revealed the only way someone can learn how to be a mother. “Let me tell you all something, no matter how many books y’all read or advice y’all get you will never be ready for mommy mode,” she said. “I’m so busy, so tired, in like a different world, a different dimension. My eyes are so dark and puffy, like I’m wild pale …”
On Kulture’s demands
Apparently, Cardi is getting a taste of her own medicine with motherhood. She shared in another Instagram story, “I met my match. She is very demanding. I can’t believe I have a boss. I really have a boss.”
“When my baby wanna eat, she wanna eat,” she continued. “It’s not like, ‘Oh, three minutes,’ no. ‘Gimme the milk now!’ You gotta burp her right away — everything, everything, everything. She wants everything.”
On what delivery is really like
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live in October 2018, Cardi confessed about the realities of delivering a baby. “It was totally harder,” she explained of her expectations for birth.
“She broke my vagina. Why nobody tells you about those things? Nobody told me they were gonna stitch my vagina. People just be like, ‘Oh, you know, when you give birth, it’s gonna hurt.’ But nobody tells you [that].”
On her nails’ new purpose
Cardi’s nails always make a statement, but she’s learning how they can come in handy during parenthood, too. First, she tweeted about the safety reasons for which she decided to change her nail shape: “Ok so if you noticed i changed my nail shape from pointy to square so i won’t hurt my baby.”
But she also pointed out, “I’m thinking about only changing my pinky nail shape back to pointy so i can take my babies little boogers out.” Anyone who has experience with raising a baby probably totally gets it.
On why she dropped out of touring with Bruno Mars
Cardi may be a performer, but she’s a mother first. Back in July 2018, she announced that she’d be dropping out of the upcoming “24K Magic World Tour” with Bruno Mars. She tweeted to her fans, “I thought that after giving birth to my daughter that 6 weeks would be enough for me to recover mentally and physically. I also thought that I’d be able to bring her with me on tour, but I think I underestimated this whole mommy thing.”
“Not only am I just not ready physically, I’m not ready to leave my baby behind since the doctors explained it’s not healthy for her to be on the road,” she added. “Thank you Bruno for being so supportive and understanding.”
On her overwhelming love
I still can’t believe it ,all mines ❤️ KultureK

No matter how much Cardi gets candid about the hard parts of motherhood, she makes one thing clear: She loves her daughter more than anything in the world. Just four days after Kulture was born, she tweeted, “I still can’t believe it ,all mines [sic]. KultureK.”
She shared on Twitter a few days later, “I never felt this feeling before. I’m In love and my heart feels like it’s melting.”
On getting her baby to sleep
You never really understand how much it takes to get a baby to sleep until you’ve done it. Cardi has clearly learned this the hard way, which she explained on Twitter: “When parents say ‘if you wake the baby up YOU PUTTING HER BACK TO SLEEP!’ I feel that.”
On wanting more children
Now that Cardi has become a mother, she’s already hoping for another baby. She got totally honest with her fans, asking on Twitter, “Would ya be mad at me if i get pregnant again?” One thing’s for sure: No one would mind following along with Cardi’s candid experiences with baby No. 2.
