Everything We Know About Carrie Underwood’s New Baby
Carrie Underwood’s accident at home in 2017 had fans wondering if she had plastic surgery because of her facial injuries, which wasn’t the best way to make headlines. She made waves with better news on Jan. 23, 2019. That’s the day she told the world she wasn’t expecting her second baby anymore — because it arrived two days earlier! Here’s what we know about Carrie Underwood’s new baby.

Carrie Underwood hit up Twitter and Instagram on Jan. 23, 2019, to tell the world she’s a mother of two. Her newest baby is a son, which she and husband Mike Fisher named Jacob Bryan Fisher. Underwood delivered her new baby in the early morning hours on Jan. 21, 2019, and spent a couple of days recovering before announcing her good news.
Her Twitter account featured a photo collage with three pictures: Her and the baby, Mike Fisher cradling his new son, and Fisher, the baby, and newly-minted big brother Isaiah Michael Fisher holding the newborn. Underwood shared the same three photos on her Instagram account.
What was her due date?
Underwood went public with her pregnancy on Aug. 8, 2018, and onlookers immediately started trying to guess the due date. If she announced it as soon as she found out, then her full-term due date would have been closer to Memorial Day.
Most expectant parents wait until the first trimester ends to make the announcement, and if Underwood went that route, then her due date and her delivery date are more closely aligned. Considering her photos show what appears to be a happy and healthy baby who seemingly avoided the NICU, we’re guessing Underwood waited past the first trimester to go public with her pregnancy.
Why Underwood’s second pregnancy was harder than the first
Underwood’s smiling face when she met Jacob for the first time belies the fact her second pregnancy was hard on her in more ways than one.
She said her symptoms while carrying Bryan were much worse than with Isaiah, but that wasn’t the only difficult part. Underwood also opened up about suffering three miscarriages in two years before delivering her second baby, which wasn’t easy on an emotional level.
The pregnancy wasn’t without controversy
Carrie Underwood’s new baby is great news for her family and her fans, but it didn’t come without controversy.
In an interview with Redbook, she said she might have missed her chance to have a big family because she was 35 years old at the time. The assumption was she “missed her chance” because she was past peak fertility years, and that comment alienated some fans.
However, that controversy passed, and now Underwood and Fisher can try for child No. 3 if they want to (not that we know anything either way).
