The new 14-episode series will follow El Moussa as he mentors real estate novices and teaches them about the secrets — and pitfalls — of flipping homes for profit.

“My passion for real estate has led me to flip hundreds of homes over the years and I’ve been incredibly lucky as an entrepreneur to build a successful business,” El Moussa said in a statement. “Now I get to help first-time flippers learn the ropes, find the best property deals and show them how to make the most profit on their investment.”

Flip or Flop fans have followed Tarek’s personal and professional journey for years and now HGTV will show off his expertise and personality in a whole new light,” Jane Latman, president, HGTV, said in a statement. “People daydream about what it would be like to renovate an investment property and make a profit. Tarek is a skilled and seasoned expert who can help newcomers navigate the pitfalls of house flipping.”

A premiere date for Flipping 101 w/ Tarek El Moussa hasn’t yet been announced.

El Moussa thanked his fans for their support

Though he continues to appear on Flip or Flop with his ex-wife and also has a new digital series, Tarek’s Flip Side, premiering August 1, El Moussa is thrilled to be getting his own HGTV show.

“This is one of the biggest announcements of my life!!!” he wrote on Instagram.

“Without YOU none of this would be my reality so thank you!!!” he added. “Thank you @hgtv and all my fans for always supporting and believing in me…I couldn’t have done it without you.”

A difficult few years for El Moussa

For El Moussa, getting a new show is an important step in moving forward after a difficult period in his life, he shared with his Instagram followers.

“The last few years have been extremely difficult on me and this is a huge accomplishment for me,” he wrote.

El Moussa and his wife Christina divorced in 2018 after nearly a decade of marriage. During a recent appearance on RuPaul, he admitted that he “wasn’t expecting” the breakup. He also battled thyroid cancer and testicular cancer several years ago. Both experiences “completely broke me,” he said. “It was the most miserable experience of my life.”

But there was a silver lining, El Moussa explained. “It gave me an opportunity to reevaluate who I am and who I want to be. It really made me a better person … I am the strongest version of myself I’ve ever been.”
