Lately, it’s like Harry and Markle are making faux pas after faux pas. But, they recently did this one thing that may be changing the public’s opinion of them.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s media trouble

Recently, Prince Harry and Markle have been facing a lot of backlash for traveling in a private jet for their vacation to France. As people who speak a lot about climate change and helping the environment, it didn’t look great that the couple few privately.

The media backlash was so intense that singer Elton John spoke out on their behalf, saying that the jet ride was a gift from him.

“I am deeply distressed by today’s distorted and malicious account in the press surrounding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s private stay at my home in Nice last week,” he wrote on Instagram.

He went on to describe why he gifted the couple with the trip.

“After a hectic year continuing their hard work and dedication to charity, David and I wanted the young family to have a private holiday inside the safety and tranquility of our home. To maintain a high level of much-needed protection, we provided them with a private jet flight. To support Prince Harry’s commitment to the environment, we ensured their flight was carbon neutral, by making the appropriate contribution to Carbon Footprint™.”

Shortly after the incident, Harry came out with Travelyst, his new initiative that will help tourists make more environmentally friendly choices and provide them with tips for offsetting carbon emissions and supporting the communities in the destinations they are visiting.

Why are people commending Harry and Markle?

Last year, when arriving at an event at the Royal Academy of the Arts in London, Markle closed the car door behind her. This might not seem like a big deal but people went absolutely crazy over it.

“A princess who still takes the time to shut her car door. Well done Meghan!” Emily Andrews, royal correspondent for The Sun, tweeted at the time.

And now, Prince Harry is following in his wife’s footsteps. When he attended the fifth anniversary of the Invictus Games ceremony, he also closed the door behind him after getting out of the car.

The royal family typically has their security detail open and close their doors as a way for the officers to quickly move them about in case of dangerous situations. But fans of the couple have been loving this new habit of Harry and Markle’s.

“Archie’s dad looking handsome,” one fan tweeted along with photos of Harry at the event. “Arriving for the Invictus Games five year celebrations… Oh, and he closed the door himself. How bout dat?”
