Fans Are Giving Kristin Cavallari the Side-Eye for Her Weird Date Idea
Kristin Cavallari’s fans are giving her a serious dose of side-eye. The reality star, known for her incredulous squint, is getting a heaping helping of the same look from her fans after she admitted that she used a colon cleanse to plan an extraordinary date night with her now-husband Jay Cutler. Yes, you read that right, and it is just as strange as it sounds.
When did Kristin and Jay get a colonic together?
The Uncommon James founder and her former NFL quarterback husband experienced a whirlwind romance. After asking Cavallari out through her representation back in 2010, she finally acquiesced and checked out a Chicago Bears game. From there the couple was inseparable, so it seemed like a good idea to get a colonic together, according to Kristin’s recollection of the event on Very Cavallari.
The reality star admitted that her adventure into colon cleansing with Jay wasn’t her first trip to the detox rodeo. The 32-year-old wife and mother received her first colon hydrotherapy treatment at 18 and had gone back several times before her date with Jay. Cutler, however, was a colonic newbie when he took the plunge with his lady love.
Cavallari’s co-star and friend, Kelly, asked the question that was on everyone’s mind; “wasn’t it awkward?”. Cavallari insisted that while it was a bit strange to share a medical procedure with a boyfriend, it brought the pair closer together. In fact, Cutler proposed a short time later. His proposal probably had nothing to do with the colonic, though.
What is a colonic?
A colonic, sometimes called colon hydrotherapy, is an alternative medicine treatment aimed at cleaning the colon of toxins. Massive doses of water are passed through the colon to force toxins and other substances out of the organ. According to Mayo Clinic, proponents of colonics claim the procedure can boost the immune system, reduce ailments such as arthritis, and even give the recipient more energy, but there is no medical basis for the claims.
While colonics have been widely available for years, there is no science to back up the procedure’s beneficial claims, and doctors even warn that they can be dangerous. Colonics and the recently popularized coffee enema have been linked to several potential risks, including electrolyte imbalances and dehydration, according to WebMD.
Are colonics a normal couple thing?
Well, no. While several alternative medicine spas offer couple’s colonics, the concept of enduring a cleanse with your beloved isn’t exactly mainstream. That is not to say it doesn’t ever happen, though. One writer shared her experience of a couple’s colonic in a thought-provoking and hilarious retelling via Thought Catalog. In short, she, a woman who has partaken in a couple’s colonic thought it was weird. Her partner thought it was weird, and the entire world thinks it is weird, too.
Either way, it doesn’t seem to have caused any harm to Cutler and Cavallari. The couple has been married since 2013. Now living on a farm in Tennessee with their three kids, they appear to have put their colonic days behind them, at least as a wacky date night event.
