It’s hard to believe it’s been over a decade since Jon & Kate Plus 8 stopped appearing on our TVs and Jon and Kate Gosselin divorced. The two certainly didn’t go quietly, as legal battles over custody of their eight children and money ensued. And today, both Jon and Kate are still in the public eye, especially with the battle over Collin Gosselin happening just months ago.

Jon has made it clear he’s stepping away from the cameras and moving on with his life, but all eyes are on Kate as she continues to pursue fame with her dating show, Kate Plus Date. Eagle-eyed fans noticed on Kate’s latest Instagram post celebrating the sextuplets’ birthdays that not everyone was present, however. Here’s what’s going on.

Six out of Jon and Kate Gosselin’s eight kids still live with Kate

With a house as divided and dramatic as the Gosselin’s, it can be hard to keep track of where all eight kids are living today. As far as fans know, Hannah and Collin Gosselin, two of the sextuplets, are living with Jon full time and have little, if any, contact with Kate. As one insider told Hollywood Life back in 2018, “Hannah lives full time with Jon and they are always out and about together in his hometown of Reading, PA.” And given what Jon posts to Instagram, it’s clear Hannah lives a life completely apart from many of her other siblings.

As for Collin, his arrangement living with Jon is more recent than Hannah’s. Jon got full custody of Collin after Kate failed to show up to court at the end of 2018, and while Collin was attending a school for “special needs,” it seems he may be back in public school with Hannah now. Jon also mentioned on Instagram that Collin has had “zero” contact with Kate.

Kate just wished her sextuplets a happy birthday on Instagram

Kate doesn’t post too frequently to Instagram, but fans noticed when she wished her sextuplets a very happy birthday on the social media platform. “I’m so very thankful for my ‘babies’…. somehow they are 15 already?!” Kate captioned her post. “I’m amazed by them each day! I’m so proud of the positive qualities I’ve seen developing as they edge closer to adulthood. It hasn’t been easy for them, especially over the last year and a half, but they continue to persevere, stay positive and make lemonade out of lemons ….”

The post was sweet, but Kate didn’t call out any of the sextuplets in particular in the post, and she also didn’t include photos of either Hannah or Collin. The older twins, Mady and Cara, were all missing from the photo — but fans seemed more fixated on the fact that Hannah and Collin weren’t involved in the celebration. “Ummmm I only see 4/6????” one fan commented. “They need Hannah and Collin!!!!” another said. Finally another questioned, “Do they ever get to ALL be together??”

Jon also posted a happy birthday wish

Kate wasn’t the only one to wish her sextuplets a great 15th birthday. Jon also posted a photo celebrating the birthday of his children to Instagram, but in his photos, he’s only seen with Hannah and Collin. Unlike Kate, however, he did give a shoutout to all of the sextuplets by name in the caption of his post. “Happy 15th Birthday Hannah, Collin, Alexis, Aaden, Joel and Leah!!!! Wow I can’t believe you are 15!!! Time is flying by!!! I love you all very much,” he wrote.

It seems fans were more supportive of Jon’s post than they were of Kate’s. As one fan wrote in response to the post, “You’re such a great dad. We all know the truth.” And another echoed the same sentiment with, “You’re such a good father! You never ask for much except time with your kids! You should be so proud of yourself.” Others commented that Hannah and Collin also look very happy to be under Jon’s care, too, which certainly means a lot to the famous dad.
