Fans of ‘The Voice’ Either Love or Hate This Contestant

Season 17 of The Voice is fast approaching its conclusion, as only a handful of singers remain to fight for the chance to win $100,000 and a recording contract with Universal Music Group. So, who remains?

Blake Shelton has two singers remaining on his team: Kat Hammock and Ricky Duran. As for John Legend, he’s got three competitors still in the ring: Katie Kadan, Marybeth Byrd, and Will Breman. Kelly Clarkson has still got the duo Hello Sunday and Jake Hoot, while Gwen Stefani has only one contestant left in the competition, Rose Short. However, while eight possible winners remain, one seems to divide fans of The Voice the most.

One contestant, in particular, is beloved by many fans of The Voice; they argue she is going to make it all the way to the end. However, others can’t seem to understand how she has made it this far! If you go scrolling through an online discussion about Kat Hammock, it becomes evident, rather quickly, that she is one of, if not the most divisive contestant left on the show. One fan of The Voice, when talking about the singer, stated:

I see a lot of people talking about her tbh. But she seems fairly divisive. You either love her or you don’t. I personally am not a fan, which is odd since I usually like singers like her.

Many feel that Kat Hammock’s voice is unique and that she has a chance at success post-competition; however, others argue that her “unique” sound is simply pitchy and bizarre. Let’s start with those who love her.

What ‘The Voice’ fans who love Kat Hammock have to say…

Many fans of The Voice argue that Kat Hammock is the next Melanie Martinez; meaning, she may not make it all the way to the end, but she is bound to be successful following her run on the show. One fan stated:

…Her voice is so unique and interesting. She sounds like an angel and is so soothing to listen to. Regardless of the outcome of this show, I see her have a solid future in music. No one has a voice like hers out there.

Just look at Melanie Martinez. She didn’t win The Voice but has one of the most unique voices from the show and now has 6.8 million Instagram followers and is touring all over the place.

Other fans chimed in to concur with the above sentiment, noting that the softness inherent to her delivery is one of the best vocal features she has to offer. One fan stated:

I think she’s unbelievable… every time she sings I’m left wanting more. Her voice is so angelic and calming.

What those who don’t love Kat Hammock have to say…

Those who aren’t fans of Kat Hammock are pretty intense when it comes to vocalizing their opinions. From apparent pitch problems to an overall “awful” sound, many can’t believe she is still on the show. Fans of the show stated:

She’s literally can’t keep on pitch and she stays in head voice which sounds awful.

I don’t get the love for her when clearly Katie and Marybeth are better.

This is how I feel, I understand she is unique and when she gets the right song it sounds good but for the most part I cant stand hearing her sing. It is almost always off key and as someone with a sensitive ear hearing her go sharp on nearly every note is hard to listen to.

For the most part, all agree that Kat’s voice is unique; however, whether she boasts the technical skills needed to win the competition remains to be seen.
