Did Gwen Stefani Address Blake Shelton Engagement Rumors With 1 Simple Gesture?
One of the most publicized relationships of the past few years has been the relationship between Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton. Fans have been wondering whether Shelton is planning on proposing to Stefani. Stefani recently made a gesture on The Voice that may have addressed rumors they are engaged.
Gwen Stefani has ‘The Voice’ audience speculating on her engagement
‘Tis the season for Christmas songs, so during Stefani’s Dec. 16, 2019 appearance on The Voice, she sang “My Gift is You,” reports the Daily Mail. “My Gift Is You” is a track from her 2017 Christmas album You Make It Feel Like Christmas. Many fans interpreted the song as being about Stefani’s love for Shelton.
During the performance, Stefani belted the line “I don’t need money, don’t need a thing, I don’t even need a wedding ring.”As she sang those lyrics, she lifted up her hand, which didn’t have a ring on it. The gesture may have sent a message: Stefani doesn’t need to get engaged or married to Shelton to enjoy their relationship.
Gwen Stefani wants Blake Shelton ‘under the Christmas lights’
This is not the first time Stefani referenced her love for Shelton through the unexpected medium of Christmas music. According to Rolling Stone, You Make It Feel Like Christmas features a song called “Under the Christmas Lights.” The song has the lyrics “When it’s cold outside put your arms around me/And we’ll countdown to December twenty-five.”
The song continued with this romantic theme. “I think all I got you ’cause you’re all that I need/Under the Christmas lights/Baby you and I
/Under the Christmas lights.”
The most romantic Christmas album ever?
The public fascination with Stefani and Shelton’s relationship is perhaps the reason why their relationship cast such a long shadow over the album You Make It Feel Like Christmas. There are a handful of Christmas love songs out there, including Elvis Presley’s “Blue Christmas” and “Last Christmas” by Wham. In You Make It Feel Like Christmas, Stefani seemed to pack more Christmas-themed love songs into one album that anyone had before.
Perhaps the most notable of these songs is called “Secret Santa.” Secret Santa is an innocent little game loved by children the world over. However, Stefani somehow manages to make it a sexual innuendo. Stefani sings “Forget the presents/No minimums, no max/Tonight I’m thinking we/Should do this differently.” The song makes “Santa Baby and “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” look positively innocent by comparison.
The album also features a track called “Never Kissed Anyone with Blue Eyes Before You.” Who could that song possibly be about? Perhaps a certain country singer with blue eyes whom Stefani has dated?
Stefani told Rolling Stone she took inspiration from the music of Sonny & Cher when crafting the album. This makes sense, as Sonny & Cher were one of the most famous couples of their time and Stefani and Shelton are one of the most famous couples of our time. Will Stefani and Shelton become as iconic as Sonny & Cher? They’re certainly giving it a shot.
