Fans Think Kim Kardashian West’s Early Success Is Behind Her Rivalry With Kourtney Kardashian
Even if you don’t watch Keeping Up With the Kardashians religiously, chances are, you still know a thing or two about Kim Kardashian West and Kourtney Kardashian’s longstanding feud.
For the past few seasons, tensions between the sisters have been brewing, and their strained relationship recently hit a boiling point when they got into a physical altercation during the Season 18 premiere.
Though it’s been believed that the Poosh founder’s work ethic — or lack thereof — was behind the sisters’ rivalry, fans are convinced that they found the underlying root of the sibling’s beef.
The sisters have been coming to blows with each other often
Things between Kim and Kourtney have been pretty rocky these last few years.
Since 2018, the sisters have gotten into some pretty heated arguments over a variety of things, but recently, they haven’t been able to see eye to eye when it comes to the mom of three’s work ethic.
As of late, Kourtney has expressed her desire to film less and focus more on her children — despite Kim and Khloé complaining that they’ll have to pick up her slack if she does take a step back from the show.
Though Kim and Khloé claimed to be supportive of Kourtney’s wishes, they recently slammed their sister for not setting clear boundaries and being the least hardworking out of all the KarJenner siblings — which Kourt took major offense to.
During the Season 18 premiere of KUWTK, tensions spilled over when Kim made a comment about Kourtney being the least dependable when it comes to fulfilling work obligations and not caring about stuff.
This caused Kourt to fire back at her sister with “You act like I don’t do s*it!,” adding, “You have this narrative in your mind… I will literally f*ck you up if you mention it again… But, honestly, change the narrative in your mind. I work my f*cking a*s off.”
“But also, if I didn’t want to work my a*s off and I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom, that’s f*cking fine!,” the Poosh founded yelled before throwing her drink right at Kim.
It didn’t take long for Kim to retaliate, and soon, the sisters were engulfed in a full-on punching, slapping, and scratching fight in the middle of the Khloé’s hallway.
Fans think Kourtney and Kim’s rivalry started way before they were famous
Though working together has created some major tension between Kim and Kourt, fans think that their sibling rivalry dates back long before they became co-stars.
While discussing the sisters’ strained relationship in a Reddit thread, fans brought up the idea that the reality stars’ rivalry could possibly stem from Kim’s early success, which they feel overshadowed Kourtney’s “respectable path in life.”
The user who kicked off the discussion brought up the fact that before becoming reality stars, Kourtney was seemingly the most successful one of her siblings.
She’d graduated college, was making her own money, owned a clothing store, and didn’t have to depend on anyone. Kim, on the other hand, dropped out of college, married at 19, divorced at 23, made a sex tape, and still skyrocketed to fame.
Because of this, some fans believe that Kourtney felt “annoyed” with Kim’s success and realized early on that putting in hard work “doesn’t matter,” especially since her career path was outshined by her young sister’s fame.
Other critics on Reddit disagreed with this claim, stated that it’s normal for siblings to grow up rivaling against each other. They also pointed out that Kim and Kourtney started coming to blows with each other pretty recently, as they had a pretty close relationship during the earlier seasons of KUWTK.
“I also don’t think kourt is that annoyed at Kim being the most successful one,” a user commented. “The big change [in] in their relationship happened these last few years when kourt progressively lost interest in the show.”
No one really knows if past jealously actually played a part in Kourtney and Kim’s feud. But either way, their rift appears to be a thing in the past, as the two are now working to maintain a more civil relationship.
