Fans Think the Kardashian-Jenners Are Being ‘Selfish’ Amid the Pandemic

The Kardashian-Jenners are no strangers to criticism. Since the beginning of their rise to fame in the 2000s, the reality TV family have faced backlash for many things they have done.

Recently, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is giving people more insights into how the Kardashian-Jenners deal with unprecedented global crises. It seems fans are not too happy and are now even accusing the family of being “selfish” in the face of a pandemic.

Why do fans think the Kardashian-Jenners are being ‘selfish’?

Based on what fans have observed from the Kardashian-Jenners’ social media pages, it seems the family does not always follow social distancing measures.

They recently threw a lavish birthday party for Khloé Kardashian, a Father’s Day celebration for Travis Scott, and an event celebrating Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner’s makeup collaboration. According to fans, the family should be trying to social distance, not bringing people physically closer together.

“Like it or not, they have a huge following and a lot of people follow their influence,” one person said on Reddit. “By broadcasting their behavior all over social media they are sending the message to their fans/followers that it’s ok to be throwing parties right now which it is DEFINITELY not, especially in a state with rapidly increasing numbers like California.”

While some fans believe they could be taking extra precautions, people overwhelmingly agree that showing off their expensive parties during this time is insensitive.

“I kind of don’t understand why they can’t keep some things private,” one fan wrote. “Like this is just not the time. America is in a worse position than ever before and they should be putting all their efforts into helping and promoting being safe.”

Meanwhile, another person also pointed out how “selfish” their moves could be, saying: “I think it’s f***** up. Already you have all their home help who risk their lives to work for them instead of being home with their own families. But now you have all the additional workers it takes to put on these productions. They’re so selfish it’s ridiculous. I hope the workers are getting hazard pay.”

The Kardashian-Jenners have also been criticized for doing other things amid the pandemic

This is not actually the first time members of the Kardashian-Jenner have been accused of setting bad examples for fans.

Back in April, Kylie Jenner received backlash when it was revealed that she met up with Kim Kardashian West to do her makeup. Fans called the move hypocritical as both of them had been trying to promote social distancing before.

That same month, Kendall Jenner was slammed for acting tone-deaf with her friends Justin and Hailey Bieber. The trio appeared in an Instagram Live together from their respective mansions. Justin acknowledged other people’s sufferings during the pandemic but said the three of them “worked hard for where we’re at” and should not “feel bad for the things we have.” Jenner nodded along and said, “Yeah.”

Some fans think the pandemic will seriously affect the Kardashian-Jenner brand

Aside from attracting criticism for their actions, some fans believe the pandemic will actually have a much bigger, more negative impact on the Kardashian-Jenner brand.

For one thing, their famous reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, is getting a shake up. With social distancing measures in place, the show will now rely on the family filming themselves with tablets and phones for the time being. However, it’s not clear if this format will be popular with viewers or not.

Additionally, some fans are not feeling optimistic about the Kardashian-Jenners’ beauty and lifestyle businesses. The pandemic has made the economy a lot worse, which means many people will become more selective about where they spend money. As a result, Kylie Cosmetics, KKW Beauty, Poosh, and more might see their bottom line taking a huge dip.
