First Glimpse at Baby Sussex: Everything We Know About the Baby So Far

This week has been a whirlwind of baby news. Meghan Markle went into labor early Monday morning and gave birth to a baby boy.

During the entire pregnancy, Buckingham Palace, Markle, and Prince Harry were very secretive about what exactly their plans were. So private, in fact, that they announced that Markle would be breaking tradition and not taking pictures with her baby on the hospital steps like her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton.

“Buckingham Palace have announced media plans for the Duke & Duchess of Sussex’s baby,” royal correspondent Emily Andrews tweeted last month. “Once #Meghan is in labour, we will be told (like #kate) but the couple will keep where private & won’t be appearing ‘on the hospital steps’ afterwards. There will be a photo op once they’re home.”

Now, two days after the birth, we are finally getting a glimpse of the newest royal.

What does baby Sussex look like?

In a press conference this morning, Markle and Harry introduced their son to the public.

“It’s magic,” Markle said. “It’s pretty amazing. I mean I have the two best guys in the world so I’m really happy.

The baby, wrapped in a white shawl, looked adorable, but his parents couldn’t quite decide who he resembled more.

“Everyone says that babies change so much over two weeks,” Harry said. “We’re basically monitoring how the changing process happens over this next month really. But his looks are changing every single day, so who knows.”

Later, the Duke joked that the baby was already maturing.

“He’s already got a little bit of facial hair as well, wonderful.”

How does baby Sussex behave?

New babies can range from being extremely fussy to calm and sweet. And that can all be in one day. So, how does baby Sussex behave?

“He has the sweetest temperament, he’s really calm,” Markle said of her new son. “He’s been the dream.”

“I don’t know who he gets that from,” Harry added.

How are Harry and Markle enjoying parenting?

While having a new baby is exciting, it can also be tiring and stressful. But so far, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex seem to be really enjoying it.

“It’s great,” Harry said. “Parenting is amazing.”

“It’s only been two and a half days, three days, but we’re just so thrilled to have our own little bundle of joy.”

When will baby Sussex meet the Queen?

Surprisingly, baby Sussex has not yet met his great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

During the interview, Markle and Harry announced that they will introduce baby Sussex to the Queen later on. Sources close to the royal family previously said that the Queen stayed away from the hospital in order to avoid drawing too much attention.

When will we find out the name of baby Sussex?

When royal babies are born, their names typically are not announced until a few days after the birth. As we are in the third day since the baby was born, the name announcement could come any day now.
