The 1 Food Kourtney Kardashian Avoids for Clearer Skin

Kourtney Kardashian may be in her 40s, but her skin and figure has looked the same for years. She has that Jennifer-Aniston way of somehow avoiding the aging process, and it could be due to what she eats and how she works out. Kardashians’ diet is stricter than you probably thought — and there’s one thing she greatly limits to help keep her skin clear.

Kardashian didn’t always eat so healthy

Although Kardashian may have a strict diet these days, she wasn’t always that way growing up. In the earlier seasons of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, she often indulged the same way her mother and sisters did, and there didn’t appear to be any specific food groups she eliminated. However, she also wasn’t a mother of three. Once Kardashian became responsible for more people than just herself, she began developing a healthier lifestyle for both her and her kids. Now, she’s earned the reputation of the healthiest member of the family and tends to follow a more holistic lifestyle than her other famous siblings.  

Since having kids, she’s greatly limited the family’s dairy intake — which she credits for clear skin

If you’re wondering why Kardashian looks like she hasn’t aged a day in the last decade, it may be because she avoids cheese. Kardashian and her children hardly ever eat dairy, and she once said during an interview that she cut out the food group almost entirely. “I keep hearing that [giving up dairy] is great for your skin,” Kardashian said. “… We do have it once in a while, but in the last six weeks, we’ve had it, like, twice.” Kardashian also noted that she and her children had seen a doctor who told them they have an allergy to dairy, which has only given her more incentive to avoid it. Although Kardashian doesn’t eat much dairy, she did say last year that she enjoys everything in moderation.

Kardashian has said she now eats gluten in moderation — though a daily basket of focaccia doesn’t sound moderate.

If there’s one thing you won’t find Kardashian enjoying often, it’s white pasta. Kardashian was once gluten free, but now she does enjoy gluten in moderation. There have been several rumors about the benefits of gluten over the past few years, but research has been inconclusive about whether the benefits of going gluten-free actually exist. Some experts say that gluten-free foods are loaded with more sugar and salt to make them more palatable, so you aren’t actually doing your body any good by avoiding it. It’s possible that’s why Kardashian hopped back on the gluten train.

Nutritionists aren’t convinced that some of Kardashian’s healthy eating habits are safe

While enjoying dairy and gluten in moderation is a harmless personal choice, there are other things Kardashian does to stay healthy, and some nutritionists aren’t convinced. According to Insider, Kardashian takes collagen pills each morning and drinks apple cider vinegar mixed with water each day, and experts suggest there isn’t enough scientific evidence to back up what Kardashian preaches. Plus, collagen supplements aren’t properly regulated, so one nutritionist suggests avoiding them altogether because you can’t be sure what’s actually in them. “Don’t waste your money,” nutritionist Lisa DeFazio told the website. Kardashian also reportedly takes two vegan probiotic shots per day, which nutritionists also say isn’t necessary if your digestive system is working properly.
