Food Network Releases 2019 Halloween Programming Schedule: ‘Halloween Wars’ Returns

September is here and that means we can officially welcome everything fall 2019 has to offer for our television screens. With a new season creeping up, it’s time to look ahead to Halloween and Food Network is more than happy to oblige. Who doesn’t love the cool competitions and the fabulously corny puns that dominate the channel for the holiday?

Not only is Halloween Wars set to return this month, but a slew of new programming options will kick things off and beckon fans to run for their remotes. Both Food Network and its sister, the Cooking Channel, are bringing fun, sugar, and the imaginative creations we crave for the occasion.

According to the network’s press release, viewers can expect more than 30 hours of Halloween content so be sure to add these shows to your countdown.

‘Halloween Baking Championship’

Watch eight bakers take a stab at making their best bloody treats in a bid to win the $25,000 prize. Carla Hall, Katie Lee, and Zac Young are in the judges’ chairs this year. The first of Halloween Baking Championship’s six episodes airs on Sept. 23, 9 p.m. EST.

‘Halloween Wars’

I have to admit this one is a favorite in our household. The designs, the nail-biting tension within teams, and the finished products are a must-see. Six teams of masterful sugar artists, dessert chefs, and pumpkin carvers battle for a shot at a $50,000 prize over a span of five episodes.

This year’s panel of celebrity guest judges include Elvira, Stranger Things star Caleb McLaughlin, and Colman Domingo of Fear the Walking Dead. Marvel at the ridiculous levels of creativity by tuning in for Halloween Wars on Sept. 29 at 9 p.m. EST. If you need a refresher, check out this video from last year.

‘Haunted Gingerbread Showdown’

Since it’s Halloween, the show’s gingerbread creators will be not be making cutesy, cheerful characters. As evidenced by the competition’s name, look out for ghoulish and creepy creations. Haunted Gingerbread Showdown returns Oct. 6 at 10 p.m. EST.

‘Halloween Cake-Off’

Hosted by Duff Goldman, this cake-off series features four bakers who are tasked with coming up with mystifying, nightmarish confections. Expect edible cakes that light up, move, and possibly bleed. The four-episode flour battle begins on Sept. 23 at 10 p.m. EST.

‘Kids Baking Championship: Tricks & Treats’

Four adorable (and talented) kids take their positions in the kitchen for this ghostly dessert special that airs on Sept. 26 at 9 p.m. EST. Duff Goldman and Valerie Bertinelli serve as the judges.

‘Outrageous Pumpkins’

Fans of pumpkin carving will love this new entry on the Food Network Halloween roster. Four carvers showcase their skills as they vie for the top prize of $10,000. Outrageous Pumpkins airs on Sept. 29 at 10 p.m. ET.

‘Freakshow Cakes’

With “freakshow” in the title, you can’t go wrong. The Cooking Channel promises things will get sinister in this new series that dares cake artists to come up with their most frighteningly delectable cakes in the name of winning the title and $10,000.

During these programs, Food Network will be sharing photos on its social media accounts, so fans can keep up by checking in on Instagram and Twitter. Get ready to root for your favorite competitor and for an extra dusting of inspiration for your own Halloween bash.
