Football Player Kellen Winslow Charged with Raping a 58-year-old Homeless Woman

Former NFL player Kellen Winslow has been charged with the rape of a 58-year-old homeless woman, according to yesterday’s court ruling.

The act happened on Mother’s Day of last year, and the woman, who has been identified in court documents as Jane Doe 2, claimed to have met Winslow before the incident, as he had given her food and money previously, according to reports from The Washington Post.

What happened?

On Mother’s Day, the woman thought that Winslow was going to take her to get some coffee so she got into in his vehicle. But, instead, he assaulted her.

“I thought we were going to stop at Denny’s, and he just kept going and going and going and going,” she testified, according to People. “He held me, grabbed my arm … and said, ‘We’re going to have sex.’ It was painful. I just kept my eyes closed. I was afraid of him. … He was a super big guy. … I just knew there was no way out.”

“He told me if I scream, he’ll choke me to death or murder me — I don’t know what it was,” she continued. “I thought I was on my last night.”

What other charges does Winslow have?

This isn’t the first time that Winslow has been in trouble with the law. Yesterday, the former football player was also found guilty of a lewd act that happened earlier this year.

In March, Winslow reportedly grabbed his groin and asked the 77-year-old woman working out next to him if she liked it. He was also accused of committing a lewd act next to her a few weeks later in a hot tub, according to People, but was not found guilty.

In addition, he was found guilty of exposing himself to a 57-year-old woman. She was gardening in Encinitas, California when the incident took place.

Is Winslow awaiting any other charges?

The jury was able to come to decisions on four charges, but still has not determined whether or not Winslow is guilty of eight more charges.

These include the rape of a 54-year-old woman who was hitchhiking in 2003 and says that Winslow drove her to an Encinitas shopping center parking lot and raped her in his car, and the rape of a girl who was 17 at the time, and says that she passed out at a party and woke to Winslow assaulting her. Winslow was 19 when this incident allegedly occurred.

All five women who have made accusations against Winslow took the stand during the trial. Winslow did not.

The jury will continue to deliberate on these charges and is expected to resume today.

What sentences will Winslow face?

According to Yahoo! News, Winslow could face life in prison for his actions if convicted on all counts.

“This case is not a he-said, she-said,” Deputy District Attorney Dan Owens told the jury during the trial. “This case is a she-said and she-said and she-said and she said and she said. Five separate women, five separate victims, all corroborated by each other. This man is a sexual predator who has victimized all of these women.”

“Lightning certainly doesn’t strike twice, let alone five times,” he continued.

Winslow’s father, former NFL Hall of Famer Kellen Winslow Sr, has supported his son since the trial began.

“On behalf of our son and my husband, we want to reiterate our love, support and affection for him during this difficult process,” he and his wife Janelle Winslow said in a statement last year. “We will always be there for him and we know the true facts will come out.”
