Frogmore Cottage is Baby Sussex-Ready and Includes a Green Energy Center
The Frogmore Cottage renovations are finally wrapping up and Meghan Markle and Prince Harry can move in just in time to get settled before the birth of Baby Sussex. Life at Frogmore Cottage is going to be
A look inside Frogmore Cottage
The couple’s new home includes such features as a freshly painted white exterior, modern windows, a dark roof, a springy “floating floor”–perfect for the Duchess’s exercise and meditation routines, and a new green energy center, according to People. The cottage is said to be a perfect marriage of the more traditional English and more modern California styles.
Though the cottage is ready for move in, Markle and Harry have been overseeing a few last-minute renovations, such as adding bookcases into alcoves and a custom kitchen and dining room, where People reports Harry will “do some entertaining,” presumably for hunting parties.
Reportedly, the Royals are excited to gain the extra space. The couple previously had two bedrooms at Kensington Palace. Frogmore Cottage is much bigger. It was previously a staff residence, acting as multiple apartments. After the renovations, the cottage is now a five bedroom family home.
“They’ll enjoy it much more in Windsor,” a family friend told People. “They feel claustrophobic in their place in Kensington Palace.”
Another source told the publication that it’ll be nice for the royal couple to have some more privact at the cottage, it being about 25 miles west of London.
“I presume it must be nice to get out and away,” explains the source. “Without neighbors who are all either family or staff [at Kensington Palace], they will now have their own thing.”
A place of relaxation and rejuvenation
Markle and Harry want their new home at Frogmore Cottage to be a sanctuary. In addition to their yoga space and green energy center, the property also features beautiful natural elements. The grounds are covered in lush gardens, open fields, and a serene lake–perfect for the couple’s two dogs and growing family.
“It has the most amazing mulberry walk, where we would pick mulberries for Prince Philip’s mulberry gin,” a former palace staffer told People. “And when the Queen is there on a Sunday afternoon, it is a five-minute walk up the hill for tea with Granny. It is gorgeous.”
Meghan and Harry’s new neighborhood pub
The closest pub to the couple’s new home, Two Brewers, is excited about the royals’ arrival. Pub patrons Frank Nowell and Mark Bond told People that they’re ready to welcome their new neighbors.
“It’s absolutely beautiful here,” says Nowell, who grew up in the area. “You know, that’s why the Queen owns it! I just think they’ll have a lovely life. And they’ve got a nice pub to come to. Can’t beat that, can you?”
