Queen Elizabeth’s demands

We assumed that Queen Elizabeth would have implemented more than a few rules during her reign that everyone is expected to follow.

Richard Kerrigan, who was once worked for the monarch, revealed during an interview on Sydney’s Kyle & Jackie O show that her butlers are not permitted to speak to her unless she addresses to them first. The rule serves as a reminder that they are not considered her equals.

Hello! magazine noted that another one of the queen’s demands has to do with when her dinner guests and family members finish their meals. The publication stated that the royal etiquette for anyone dining with her for state dinners or banquets to stop eating once she does. So when she’s done, everyone else is too.

But Her Majesty’s demands certainly aren’t the most outrageous. Her son, Prince Charles, has her beat in that department.

Prince Charles’ demands

The future king has a long list of outlandish demands according to some of his former employees.

In the documentary, The Madness of Prince Charles, royal biographer Anthony Holden said, “Charles has two men, paid for by the state, to help him get dressed in the morning.”

Princess Diana’s former butler, Paul Burrell, claimed that Charles is actually called “the pampered prince” amongst his staff at Clarence House and has his hired help press his pajamas and shoelaces daily as well.

Burrell also said that the heir apparent has his attendants squeeze precisely one inch of toothpaste out of the tube for him every time he brushes his teeth.

There is one demand though that Charles has denied.

When asked about always bringing his own toilet seat with him when he travels the Prince of Wales told the reporter, “Oh, don’t believe all that crap. The very idea!”

The royal couple who earned quite a reputation for their royal demands is Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Prince Harry is said to have scolded hotel staff in the past for bringing him plastic products including a stirrer for his coffee and a bag draped over his drying cleaning.

His wife was recently criticized when she demanded that her security team stop members of the public from trying to take pictures of her at Wimbledon.

A few other demands dubbed the “do and don’t commandments”  were reportedly given to their neighbors in Windsor. According to sources who spoke to The Sun, the prince and former actress issued a set of demands of how their neighbors should conduct themselves when they are in their presence.

Some of the rules allegedly given to folks who live around them were to not try and engage them in conversation, not to pet their dogs, and not to ask to see baby Archie. However, a palace spokesperson has since denied that any such demands were made by Markle and Harry.

“The Duke and Duchess didn’t request this, didn’t know about it, and had nothing to do with the content or guidance offered,” a spokesperson said in a statement.
