Is ‘Frozen 2’ Going to Be on Disney+? Here’s What We Know About Disney’s Sequel and Streaming Platform
Fans can’t seem to let this movie go. With this sequel now playing in theaters, some viewers are wondering when, and if, Frozen 2 will be on Disney+. Is the original animated movie available for streaming? Here’s what we know about Disney’s subscription service and it’s Frozen-related content.
Disney’s long-awaited sequel, entitled ‘Frozen 2,’ premiered in theaters on Nov. 22, 2019
The wait is finally over for fans of this Disney animated movie. During November 2019, Disney premiered its sequel to Frozen, entitled Frozen 2. Complete with new songs, new animal friends, and some of the same characters, this movie took viewers into the unknown, on a quest to learn more about Elsa’s ice powers.
Since its premiere date, Frozen 2 became the highest-grossing movie of November, bringing home over $125 million on opening weekend alone. Now, some fans are wondering how they can watch this movie after it leaves theaters. Most likely, this movie will eventually be available for streaming on the company’s subscription service, Disney+.
When will ‘Frozen 2’ be available for streaming on Disney+?
The cold never bothered Frozen fans anyway. The Disney+ release timeline, however, may bother them a little. Unfortunately, Frozen 2 will not be available on this streaming platform for at least a few months.
However, there’s a good chance this movie will be available on this subscription service, as other movies released in 2019, including Captain Marvel, Dumbo, and Avengers: Endgame, are already on Disney+.
Refinery 29 reports, “Disney has historically waited seven months to bring each theatrical release to streaming services, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, the company has no plans on changing that wait time, even with its shiny new app. Of course, the film will definitely go up on Disney+ after those seven months, meaning we can expect it sometime around late June 2020.” Disney has not yet given Frozen 2 fans an official release date for this sequel to premiere on the platform.
Is the original ‘Frozen’ on Disney+?
There is some good news for fans of Disney’s Frozen. The original animated film is available for streaming on Disney’s platform, Disney+. This subscription service offers users thousands of hours of Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic content. That includes movies featuring everyone’s favorite snowman friend, Olaf.
Some Frozen fans even watch the first movie before heading to theaters for Frozen 2. One Twitter user said, “When your Hubby says, ‘let’s watch Frozen on Disney Plus so we can watch the new one tomorrow!’”
Additionally, there are spin-offs on Disney’s streaming platform, featuring Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and all their friends. This includes content like Olaf’s Frozen Adventure and the short, LEGO Disney Frozen: Northern Lights. Other beloved animated movies by Disney, including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Beauty and the Beast, and Tangled are available with this subscription service.
