Is ‘Frozen 2’ Worth All the Hype? Viewers Weigh in on Social Media
About a month after its release, some fans are still in love with Disney’s animated film, Frozen 2. (Almost as much as Olaf loves summer.) The film earned a few Golden Globe nominations and over $1 billion in box office sales, becoming one of the most popular movies of the holiday season. But is Frozen 2 really worth all the hype? Here’s what some viewers are saying about the film on Twitter.
Disney’s ‘Frozen 2’ premiered in theaters on Nov. 22, 2019
Fans can’t seem to let Frozen go. The original movie premiered in 2013, introducing viewers to characters like Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and Sven. Over five years later, Disney is back with a sequel, Frozen 2, which helps explain how Queen Elsa got her ice powers.
This animated film already earned award nominations for the Golden Globes and the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards. In the box office, Frozen 2 also came on top, becoming one of Disney’s most popular movies of 2019.
‘Frozen 2’ became one of Disney’s best-selling movies of 2019, along with ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ ‘The Lion King,’ and the recently-released ‘Rise of Skywalker’
According to The Hollywood Reporter, during its box office debut, Frozen 2 grossed “an estimated $130 million in North America and $228.2 million internationally for a worldwide start of $358.2 million.” Compare that to the original Frozen which, in its theatrical run, earned $1.28 billion globally, becoming the top-grossing animated release of all time.
One of the biggest factors behind Frozen 2’s success is the fans. To some viewers, this movie, its soundtrack, and its adorable new characters (we’re looking at you, Samantha,) made Frozen 2 just as good as the original movie.
Twitter users weighed in Disney’s animated film, ‘Frozen 2’
Is the sequel ever as good as the original? To some Frozen 2 fans, this movie far surpassed expectations, with songs like “Into the Unknown” and “Show Yourself” earning millions of streams on Spotify. Of course, a handful of fans noticed Disney’s improved animation of characters like Anna and Elsa.
“I watched Frozen 2 today, and after learning of many people’s mixed reactions to it I wasn’t expecting much, but it was better than I was expecting. I think it’s worth a watch.
#Frozen2 wasn’t the best-animated film of 2019, but it’s still worth at least one sit through,” wrote one Twitter user.
“Just home from [Disney’s Frozen, it was] a great film. 6-year-old girls captivated from start to finish. Middle-aged Dads charmed and amused by the jokes. Well worth seeing,” said another Twitter user.
Some fans are still looking forward to more Frozen content. One Twitter user said, “between Frozen 1 and Frozen 2, there was a six-year gap. I was 15 and now I’m 21, and yet the movie still made me feel so happy. I’ll gladly wait another six years if they ever made a Frozen 3. I’ll be 27, but it’d be worth it.”
