Disney released a special look into their upcoming movie, Frozen 2, complete with the song “Into The Unknown.” Will this anthem become the next “Let It Go?” Here’s what fans are saying about the latest look into Disney’s sequel.
Disney released a ‘special look’ into the sequel of ‘Frozen’
A special look into Frozen 2 premiered on YouTube can fans can’t seem to let it go. This clip featured a snippet of Elsa’s song, “Into The Unknown.” Although not much is known about this plot, this clip gave fans a closer look at Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Sven, and Kristoff.
The caption of the YouTube video reads, “Why was Elsa born with magical powers? What truths about the past await Elsa as she ventures into the unknown to the enchanted forests and dark seas beyond Arendelle? The answers are calling her but also threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, she’ll face a dangerous but remarkable journey. In “Frozen,” Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In “Frozen 2,” she must hope they are enough.”
Is ‘Into the Unknown’ the new ‘Let It Go’?
Additionally, Disney revealed the tracklist for this upcoming movie, and it features a few songs performed by Idina Menzel, the voice of Elsa. According to one Twitter user, “Jennifer Lee confirmed that ‘Show yourself’ would rival ‘Let It Go,’ but they can’t preview it as it would reveal too much of the plot.”
Of course, Kristen Bell, the voice of Anna, sings multiple songs during the movie, including “The Next Right Thing” and “Some Things Never Change.” Other popular artists are featured on the Frozen 2 soundtrack, including Kacey Musgraves and Weezer. The band Panic! At the Disco will perform their own rendition of the released song, “Into the Unknown.”
Fans have mixed feelings about this ‘Frozen 2’ song
Since “Into The Unknown” premiered on YouTube, it jumped to one of the top trending spots on the platform. This is the first time viewers heard Elsa sing a new song, and some fans were excited to watch this special looks. Others called this song the next “Let It Go.”
“I’m already stressing over how the heck I’m going to be able to pull off singing those notes in ‘Into the Unknown,’” one Twitter user said, responding to Frozen 2’s new song.
“Ah, a song I would’ve heard as a child and thought was pretty but couldn’t actually understand the words,” said one comment on YouTube. “[I’m] glad a new generation gets that experience.”
Others thought this song doesn’t rival “Let It Go” and other songs from the original movie. One YouTube comment said, “I’ve seen the Japanese commercial where you can hear a good portion of this song, and I’m not a fan. ‘Let It Go’ was iconic but this? Too broadway-ey for my taste.”
Disney’s Frozen 2 premieres in the United States on Nov. 22, 2019. The sequel’s soundtrack premieres on Nov. 15, available on most streaming platforms and as a vinyl.
