‘Full Frontal’ Showrunner Jo Miller Was Reportedly Fired, Had Disagreements With Samantha Bee

Jo Miller is exiting as showrunner of the popular late night comedy series Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, and there are now reports that she was fired and that she had disagreements with Bee.

Miller has been the showrunner and head writer for Full Frontal since the very beginning back in 2016, but her departure was announced on Monday. The Wrap subsequently quoted an insider as saying she was fired and did not quit.

“We did not immediately get a reason for Miller’s exit, though one person who wished to remain anonymous told TheWrap that Miller was fired,” The Wrap reported.

At the same time, Deadline reported that Miller and Bee have been having some disagreements as of late, with this being offered as a potential reason for the firing.

“Bee had been effusive in praise of Miller while touting the show’s launch at TCA, but a source says that recently there have disagreements between the two,” according to Deadline.

The Hollywood Reporter did not offer a reason for Miller’s exit, but they did note that a replacement is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

“Jo is an incredibly talented writer who has played an invaluable role in the creation and success of the Full Frontal With Samantha Bee franchise over the past two years,” TBS said in a statement. “We are grateful for her contributions and wish her continued success.”

Jo Miller began working as a writer on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart in 2009. In 2015, she and Samantha Bee left the show to launch their own series on TBS, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee. The show has been a success since then, earning positive reviews from critics and being nominated for four Emmys this past year.
