The Full Trailer of ‘Schitt’s Creek’ Season 6 Is Here and Fans Are Not OK
The Rose Family on Schitt’s Creek has become synonymous with wholesome family togetherness. While not the typical “working middle class” family unit, the once-wealthy crew has settled into their new lifestyles like pros, minus a few growing pains. Now that the final series is about to air, fans are freaking out over the trailer for the most emotional reason.
It’s hard to sum up 5 seasons of ‘Schitt’s Creek’
Choosing a favorite Rose is like choosing a favorite child: it’s just not done. For those who need a refresher on all that’s gone down over five seasons, here’s a re-cap.
Johnny (Eugene Levy), Moira (Catherine O’Hara), Alexis (Annie Murphy), and David (Dan Levy) Rose lost their family home and fortune due to bad financial management. Luckily, Johnny previously bought the town of Schitt’s Creek as a joke for David’s birthday, so that’s where they went for [what they thought would be] a temporary situation.
With their lives upended, the show spends five seasons watching how this family not only settles into Schitt’s Creek but becomes a part of it. Whether it’s the dramatics of actress, Moira, running for city council, or the deadpan jokester, Johnny, becoming a partner for the Rosebud Motel, the Pop TV comedy started as a sleeper hit before the masses realized just how precious of a gem the show is.
In season 5, Alexis and her boyfriend, Ted (Dustin Mulligan), took off for the Galapagos Islands just after David and his beau, Patrick (Noah Reid), became engaged. Moira’s latest movie project got canned and Johnny’s just there holding everyone together to the best of his ability.
Honestly, there’s no way to sum up everything Schitt’s Creek without clearing out a weekend to watch every episode. Trust us, it’s worth it.
What’s to come in season 6 of ‘Schitt’s Creek’?
Now that the full trailer’s out for the show’s final run, it looks as though the Rose’s have an emotional, yet still comical, season ahead. The Rose’s mention a partial renovation to the Rosebud Motel in classic Moira/Johnny dialogue.
Alexis returns from her trip which looks to have delayed David and Patrick’s wedding plans. Stevie Budd (Emily Hampshire), who runs the motel, seems to be her usual sarcastic self (which is fantastic). And at the end of the clip, Johnny’s voice talking about how much the town now means to him is, well, it’s a lot to unpack.
What are fans saying about the trailer?
We are all “A Little Bit Alexis” when thinking of the show’s final season. As soon as the trailer hit, Twitter caught fire. Fans everywhere are deep in their feelings about the end.
“Posting this with No warning was not okay but I love you and I’m weeping,” one fan tweeted. “So beautiful! So perfect!! I’m sobbing!!” another said. “Really didn’t plan to spend my Friday -— and let’s just be real, entire weekend — crying, but here we are!” another fan echoed.
With nearly 13,000 likes and hundreds of comments just like the ones above, it’s clear that Schitt’s Creek is going to be missed. Where else will we hear “ew, David” on a regular basis?
Schitt’s Creek Season 6 returns to CBC and Pop TV on January 7, 2020.
