Galyn Görg of ‘Twin Peaks’ Dies. Where Is the Rest of the Cast Now?
Görg died of cancer one day before her 56th birthday, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The actor and dancer had also starred in the sci-fi drama M.A.N.T.I.S., which aired on Fox from 1994 to 1995, and had roles in RoboCop 2 and Point Break. More recently, she was seen in episodes of How to Get Away With Murder and Parks and Recreation.
Galyn Görg’s role on ‘Twin Peaks’
On Twin Peaks, Görg played Nancy O’Reilly, who was the sister of Blackie O’Reilly, the madam at One-Eyed Jacks. She appeared in three episodes of the cult-favorite TV show.
Sadly, Görg is not the only cast member from the David Lynch series to die in recent years. Peggy Lipton, who played Double R diner owner Norma Jennings, died in 2019. Miguel Ferrer (Agent Albert Rosenfield) and Warren Frost (Dr. Will Hayward) both died in 2017. Catherine Coulson (Margaret Lanterman, aka “The Log Lady) passed away in 2015. Several other actors on the show — which originally aired from 1990 to 1991 — have also died, including Jack Nance (Pete Martell), Don Davis (Major Garland Briggs), Michael Parks (Jean Renault), and Frank Silva (BOB).
Where are Kyle MacLachlan and Michael Ontkean today?
The most memorable Twin Peaks cast member is Kyle MacLachlan, who played Agent Dale Cooper. The 61-year-old actor was most recently seen in Capone. He’ll play Thomas Edison in the upcoming film Tesla. MacLachlan was one of many actors from the original show who reunited for Twin Peaks: The Return — an 18-episode followup to the original series that aired on Showtime in 2017. He also has his own line of wines, sold under the label “Pursued By a Bear.”
On Twin Peaks, Cooper teamed with Sheriff Harry S. Truman, played by Michael Ontkean. The 74-year-old Ontkean is now retired from acting and did not appear in the Twin Peaks revival, much to the disappointment of fans.
What about the rest of the ‘Twin Peaks’ cast?
Unlike Ontkean, Mädchen Amick, who played Double R waitress Shelly Johnson, did come back for Twin Peaks: The Return. These days, she starring as Alice Cooper in Riverdale — a show with plenty of Twin Peaks references. Dana Ashbrook, who played Shelly’s secret boyfriend Bobby Briggs, also reprised his role for The Return. Since then, he’s appeared in episodes of The Resident and Insatiable.
What about Ray Wise and Grace Zabriskie, who played the parents of murder victim Laura Palmer? Wise had a recurring role on the recently canceled Fresh Off The Boat as the Huang family’s neighbor. Zabriskie appeared in several episodes of the TNT series The Alienist and HBO’s Ballers in 2018. Both were also in Twin Peaks: The Return.
Lara Flynn Boyle, who played Laura’s friend Donna Hayward, was one of the few cast members from the original series not to appear in The Return. Her most prominent post-Twin Peaks role was in Private Practice, which ran from 1997 to 2003. She was last seen in the 2014 movie Lucky Dog.
Finally, there’s Sheryl Lee. Originally cast as the already-dead Laura Palmer, Lynch was so impressed with the actor that he added more flashbacks with her character and cast her as Laura’s lookalike cousin Maddie. Recently, she appeared in the Facebook Watch series Limetown with Jessica Biel.
