‘Game of Thrones’: The Cast Reunites at the Emmys and the Picture Is Everything
The days are gone when Game of Thrones fans would sit down to watch the latest episode of their favorite show. The characters are seriously missed and television just doesn’t feel the same. Fortunately for fans, many of the cast members reunited at the Emmys and the picture is seriously everything.
The cast takes the stage
Not all of the cast took home Emmys, but they did get a chance to reunite and capture it for fans to always remember. Alfie Allen, who plays Theon Greyjoy, captured a lot of what happened on his Instagram Story.
The stars took to the stage yesterday in honor of the show, including Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Carice van Houten, Gwendoline Christie, and Alfie Allen.
People went crazy for Gwendoline Christie
The audience and many of the fans at home applauded their phenomenal work over the last eight seasons of a monumental show. Fans are still debating each other about the controversial ending. Each of the actors was able to speak, at least briefly. When Christie got her turn to speak, people literally went crazy for the woman known as Brienne of Tarth.
The cast of ‘Game of Thrones’ took a selfie
Luckily, Allen was on hand and took lots of behind-the-scenes photos of the event and reunion of the cast. They all took a selfie together backstage and the reunion really pulls at our hearts. They clearly enjoyed their time back together.
Kit Harington and Sophie Turner embraced
Harington and Turner, part of a wider on-screen family, shared a long, warm embrace and fans were here for it. Turner even holds Harington’s head in her hands. The sweet reunion caused quite a buzz on social media.
Gwendoline Christie’s dress was center stage
Christie’s dress caused quite a stir on the internet and a debate erupted trying to compare it to different things. The beautiful gown, which looks almost like a Roman-style dress, was created by Gucci. Some people online even compared the garment from everything from religious symbolism to a Roman toga. It was even compared to the Lannister colors and possibly what she might have worn to marry into the Lannister family.
Did the series win big at the Emmys?
Game of Thrones took an Emmy home for outstanding drama series, to no one’s real surprise. Dinklage even took home another Emmy for his work on the series, which is his fourth for the role as the witty Tyrion Lannister.
David Benioff, an executive producer on the hit series, said on stage: This all started in the demented mind of George R.R. Martin.”
Kit Harington hasn’t seen the final season of ‘Game of Thrones’
Game of Thrones may be over, but fans are still reeling from the final season of the epic series, and apparently, so are some of the actors. Harington revealed backstage at the Emmys while speaking to reporters that he hasn’t even seen the final season of the series.
“I’ll tell you something… What was it? Controversy. I still haven’t seen the show,” Harington said in regards to the final season. “That’s how I go about controversy. I haven’t seen the final season.”
He also defended the ending which has caused so much heartache with fans. “And controversy, I think for us — we knew what we were doing was right story-wise,” Harington explained. “And we knew that it was right for the characters because we lived with them for 10 years. And I think that kind of set — controversy for us didn’t really affect us.” Fans were glad they got to see the cast reunite one final time.
