The Season 7 ending of Game of Thrones was explosive for many reasons. One of the biggest moments was the love scene between Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow. Tyrion Lannister was also weirdly involved by being outside their door and witnessing part of their interaction. Now Peter Dinklage is talking about his character’s upset reaction and his response might mean something big for the three characters.

The actor told Entertainment Weekly that Tyrion’s reaction stems from his personal feelings for Daenerys but also strategy. “A lot of the time with Tyrion, it’s professional and personal,” he explained. “Obviously, he has feelings for Daenerys. He loves her — or thinks he does.”

He then continued to talk about how this could just be bad for Daenerys and Jon’s goal to take down Cersei. “He’s wondering how smart of a move [Jon and Daenerys getting romantically involved is], because passion and politics don’t mix well,” he said. “He knows the two of them getting together could be very dangerous.” So what could this mean for our favorite characters?

Daenerys and Jon together could mean they are now vulnerable to Cersei

Dinklage could be right and that means the two getting romantically involved could make them vulnerable to Cersei. Firstly, they could just be more distracted especially if they end up having a baby. Secondly, Cersei could use their feelings against each other if she finds out they are together. She has a history of keeping hostages, after all. Thirdly, their romance might actually sour and that could be disastrous for their alliance.

The new pairing could mean Tyrion’s happy ending won’t include love

On the other hand, the actor’s comment could mean Tyrion just won’t find love at the end of the show. This wouldn’t be that unexpected considering his last engagement was to Sansa Stark, a young girl who was a hostage. He also had a tragic relationship with Shae. Now he has feelings for another woman that can’t give him anything in return which is pretty sad for the heroic character.

Tyrion might become the villain by trying to tear the two apart

There is a popular fan theory that Tyrion might go against Daenerys and Jon in the end. It would be an interesting turn, but it’s more unlikely. Tyrion isn’t usually the type to let his feelings get in the way of what makes sense. He knows Daenerys will need a king at some point and have a family to continue her reign. He also respects Jon Snow and would probably think this pairing would be perfect if he knows about Jon’s true parents.

Either way, Dinklage’s comments might mean something bad is coming for these three characters. Whether that be enemies using this as an opportunity, heartbreak, or a crazy turn.
