‘Game of Thrones’: How Does Daenerys Really Feel About Being Related to Jon Snow?

Fans have waited for a long time for Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) to meet on Game of Thrones. They waited even longer to find out the mystery of Jon Snow’s parents.

Now that answer has been revealed and the two characters are related. How do they feel about that? Here is everything you need to know.

Jon Snow is really Aegon Targaryen

Jon Snow was raised by Ned Stark and was believed to be his bastard. His mother was a mystery. However, it has been revealed that he isn’t a bastard at all.

He is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. They got married in a secret ceremony and had him. Lyanna gave him to her brother, Ned because Robert Baratheon waged war on the Targaryens and would have killed him.

This means Jon Snow is the rightful heir to the Iron Throne and is the nephew of Daenerys. The two recently fell in love.

Emilia Clarke said this is normal for Daenerys

The Targaryens tend to marry their own in order to hold power and maintain the ability to ride dragons. Daenerys was being prepared to marry her brother, Viserys most of her life so this part of the news wasn’t that troubling to the queen.

The related thing, to her, is so normal,” Emilia Clarke told Entertainment Weekly. “She could have easily married her brother. It’s not a thing. It’s a thing for Jon, but let’s just forget about that. The main thing is we’re up for the same promotion and I’ve been working for it for my entire existence.”

The family line backfired for the Targaryens since it’s believed they went mad after generations of family members having children together. How does Jon Snow feel about the news?

The Starks don’t practice incest so Jon Snow had a very different reaction to the news that he is Aegon Targaryen. However, he hasn’t voiced his concern just yet.

“What really upsets Jon is that he’s a blood relative to the woman he’s in love with,” writer Bryan Cogman said according to Entertainment Weekly. “Jon is taken aback when essentially the first thing she says is acknowledging that he has a claim to the Iron Throne. Kit and Emilia play it beautifully. It’s a very difficult scene to pull off; so much has to go on behind the eyes.”

Their relation to each other isn’t his only concern. It seems like Jon Snow is noticing how focused Daenerys is on taking the Iron Throne and what she’s willing to do to get it. Fans will have to wait and see if these differences will tear the new couple apart, or if they’ll stay together.
