‘Game of Thrones’ Fans Think This Is What Tyrion Told Cersei in the Finale
In the season finale of Game of Thrones, Tyrion had a key conversation with Cersei, the end of which was not shown on screen. But fans now have a theory about what Tyrion may have told his sister.
Whatever Tyrion said to Cersei, it resulted in her joining Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen in their fight against the dead (or at least lying and saying she’d be joining them, as was revealed later). One popular theory that has since come out is that Tyrion promised Cersei that her unborn child would have a place in the line of succession under Daenerys Targaryen.
After all, this season has made a point to emphasize Tyrion’s concerns over the line of succession considering Daenerys believes she cannot have children. So in order to get Cersei’s help and ensure that the realm is not destroyed by the White Walkers, Tyrion made a deal and secured a ruler of the Seven Kingdoms after Daenerys.
This would explain the shot of Tyrion looking down the hall as Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen had sex. Though he was told Daenerys could not have children, Tyrion may have become concerned about whether the information was accurate and whether Jon could actually impregnate Daenerys. If Daenerys were to have a child, this would obviously make Tyrion’s deal with Cersei Lannister invalid, although Cersei already invalidated the deal by deciding not to send troops north as she promised.
Another theory is that Tyrion was simply made aware of the fact that Cersei does not plan to march north and help defeat the White Walkers. Clearly, this is not something he has shared with Jon and Daenerys, and so his look down the hall could have been guilt knowing that Jon and Daenerys believe everything is going to work out.
It’s also possible that Tyrion shared some information with Cersei, perhaps the fact that Daenerys cannot have children. If Cersei believes that Daenerys is the last of the Targaryens, she might feel more inclined to let Jon and Daenerys fight the Army of the Dead themselves, hoping that Daenerys will die and the entire Targaryen lineage will die with her. And in Cersei’s mind, even if Daenerys survives and takes the Iron Throne, Cersei’s child can later emerge as the rightful ruler to take over after Daenerys.
Finally, a fourth theory is that Tyrion promised Cersei that he would allow her and her child to live when Daenerys Targaryen seizes the throne, being able to live out the rest of their days in exile.
It’s noteworthy that later in the finale, Cersei told Jaime that he is the stupidest Lannister. While not mentioning his name, Cersei is therefore saying that Tyrion is not stupid, suggesting she finds the deal he made earlier to be a wise move.
Regardless of what was actually said, most fans are of the belief that Tyrion’s conversation with Cersei is something that will be considered a betrayal by Jon and Daenerys and will create some major problems for him next season.
