‘Game of Thrones’: Who Is Starring in the Prequel Series?
Things are slowly coming out about one of the Game of Thrones prequel series that is in the works at HBO. This series is being co-created by George R.R.Martin and Jane Goldman. The show is somewhat based on the book series, A Song of Ice and Fire. Now the cast is starting to form. So who is starring in the prequel series? Here is everything you need to know.
Naomi Watts is cast to star in the A Song of Ice and Fire prequel series
According to Variety, Naomi Watts is starring in the pilot of the Game of Thrones prequel. The series takes place after the golden Age of Heroes and into the time the world descends into its darkest hour. This is when the origin of White Walkers will be explored. Also, this is when the pact between the First Men and the Children of the Forest began ending their long war. This series is 10,000 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
There isn’t much known about Namoi Watts’ character except she is described as “a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret.” We have seen some female characters rubbing shoulders with the most powerful people in Westeros before that have a dark side with Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer.) It’s certainly an interesting tease for a character.
Watts wasn’t much of a Game of Thrones fan before
Although Game of Thrones has become a cultural phenomenon, there are still people discovering it for the first time. That includes the Australian actress who got the prequel role.
“I am late coming to it, I have to say,” she said according to Entertainment Tonight. “But that’s how I am with lots of things in life. I am binging it right now and studying. It’s very exciting.”
Josh Whitehouse has also been cast
The British actor, Josh Whitehouse has also been cast to be in the prequel series. There haven’t been any details out yet about his character, but Deadline is describing Whitehouse as a lead in the new show. Whitehouse previously was in Poldark as Hugh Armitage.
More people are being cast
The casting for the new show is hardly over. According to Watchers on the Wall, there are two roles the show is trying to fill. One is called “S2” and it’s described as a black woman between the ages 45 and 60. They are also reportedly filling a role called “A” who is a multiracial young man between the ages 17 and 20.
This series should be interesting and just as dark as the original. That’s because this time period is when the houses we know like the House Stark form. The show will also follow the world going into the Long Night. This is a winter that lasted a generation where the First Men and Children of the Forest were at war with White Walkers. Luckily, Azor Ahai defeated the White Walkers with a sword called Lightbringer.
