‘Game of Thrones’: Why Fans Are Convinced This Character Is Going to Die
Fans of Game of Thrones have had a lot of time to place their bets on who is going to survive this last season of the show. Things are started to raise even more flags as Season 8 is ramping up for a huge battle. Fans believe one character is going to die and this is the reason why.
The Battle of Winterfell has fans speculating who will die
The episode, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” shows everyone in Winterfell preparing for battle. That involved getting to experience something new like Arya (Maisie Williams), achieving a goal that didn’t seem possible like Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie), and trying to mentally prepare to die like other characters.
Fans were also mentally preparing for their favorite characters to die since the Battle of Winterfell episode will reportedly be around 80 minutes making it the longest episode in the show’s history. It is also expected to be the longest battle scene ever.
Who have fans decided is most likely going to be one of many to die? Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson) is a beloved character who has been by Daenerys’ (Emilia Clarke) side for some time. He is now in Winterfell to help fight against the dead, but fans don’t think he’ll make it out alive for a good reason.
Grey Worm tells Missandei he’ll take her away after the battle
Grey Worm has been a loyal commander of the Unsullied for Daenerys. However, he and Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel) might have found their limits when they arrived at Winterfell.
It’s unsaid but all of the looks the locals give to Missandei and Grey Worm show that they aren’t wanted there as the only Black people. Some locals refused to even speak to them. That understandably doesn’t make them want to stay. What’s their plan?
“When Daenerys takes her throne there will be no place of us here,” Grey Worm told Missandei. He then asked her if she wants to stay or if there is anything else she wants to do.
She answered, “Naath. I’d like to see the beaches again.” The commander then said, “Then I will take you there.”
Fans think Grey Worm’s last words to Missandei means he’ll die
The problem is that this exchange put up a big red flag to fans. Since most of the other Game of Thrones characters were preparing to die it’s odd that Grey Worm is the only one making plans of what he’ll do after the battle. It’s also a trope that the character that makes plans usually isn’t the one to survive and fans picked up on it fast.
Fans haven’t really been guessing how the commander could die. However, the battle involves wights, the Night King, dragons, and giants so there are many possibilities. There is also the chance that the character doesn’t die at all. However, it is Game of Thrones so death is a safer bet.
