‘Gilmore Girls’: 10 Questions We Have After the Revival Episodes
After years off the air, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life showed us what all of our favorite Stars Hollow characters are up to after all these years. The episodes start off with most of our favorite Gilmore Girls stars in a tough spot in their lives.
Rory has been floundering in her career and is freelance writing. She’s not exactly covering hard news overseas like she once dreamed of doing. Lorelai is still with Luke, however they’re not married, don’t have any kids, and are seemingly stuck in the same spot. Emily sadly, has to figure out what she wants her life to be like after Richard’s death.
By the end of the four episodes, we get a resolution to some of these stories, but are still left with more questions. We can only hope there will be another season, so we can get some answers. Here are 10 questions we still have after the Gilmore Girls revival.
1. Who is the father of Rory’s baby?
The show’s infamous last four words were finally revealed, but they kept fans from finding closure. Rory is pregnant, and although it seems like Logan is the father, it hasn’t stopped fans from making theories around who else could be the father. Some think that it could be the Wookiee who Rory had a one-night stand with in New York. However, that was back in the “Spring” episode, so a few months would’ve had to pass by without Rory figuring it out.
Then there is the fact that Rory was still very much with Paul throughout the whole series. It’s possible she was still sleeping with him. But since Paul was such a background character it’s hard to believe he would fill the important role of being the father to Rory’s baby.
Then there is the surrogacy theory. Many have thought that Lorelai and Luke could have possibly picked up their surrogate discussion off-screen. Instead of getting a “breeder” through Paris, maybe they went with Rory instead and now she’s pregnant with their baby. This is a long shot, but some big things like Rory’s car crash have happened off-screen on the show before, so it’s possible.
2. Will Rory’s book come between her and Lorelai?
When Rory brought up writing a book about her life, Lorelai was staunchly against it. However, Rory was persistent and in the end they agree that she should finish it and that Lorelai can read it when it’s ready. But this doesn’t mean Lorelai’s feelings will necessarily change. Since Emily has left for Nantucket we are missing a character who provides much of the drama. Perhaps this means the drama in the future will be between Lorelai and Rory. The big thing that comes between them could be the juicy book.
3. Will Logan go through with the wedding?
Logan and Rory had a long affair while he was engaged to Odette. But now that the season ended with Rory possibly pregnant with his baby, maybe he won’t go through with the wedding. It’s clear that Logan has feelings for Rory, but are they enough for him to commit to her?
4. Is Rory back in Stars Hollow for good?
The new episodes were all about Rory being stuck in her career and regressing by moving back home. But now that she’s going to start a family, maybe she will stay in Stars Hollow for good. After all it’s a great place to raise a family, and she can write novels anywhere.
5. Will Sookie and Michel stick around for the Dragonfly Inn’s expansion?
Sookie has been into farming lately, and kind of left the Dragonfly Inn behind. Michel was trying to stick around, but realized he was destined for more and was going to leave. We are given the explanation that Lorelai wants to expand her inn into a franchise to keep Michel, but we never get a clear answer on whether he changed his mind and decided to stay. Will Lorelai be on her own?
6. Will Luke and Lorelai go back to considering kids?
This is another story line that was seemingly dropped by the middle of the season. Lorelai begins wondering if she has ignored what Luke wants, and ironically railroads him into a surrogacy consultation. The topic is dropped once Luke says he’s fine without kids, but Lorelai still feels like their relationship needs something, so they get married. Now that they’re hitched will the baby discussion come back up?
7. Will Rory’s book push her and Jess closer together?
Jess is once again the person to push Rory into a new path. He says she should write a book about her life and so she does. He also works at a publishing house, so does this mean he will be the one to publish it?
8. Will Paris ever remarry?
Sadly, our favorite weird couple is no more! If you love Paris as much as us, then you probably want to see her happy and with someone new. We can only wonder who would be the new guy in her life and if he’ll be able to keep up with her.
9. If the baby is Logan’s will Rory tell him?
It’s not exactly a given that Rory would tell the father of her baby that she is pregnant. Lorelai was fiercely independent and it’s possible that Rory will be the same way. Perhaps she knows Logan will probably never be the father her child needs, and therefore will never tell him.
10. Will Emily’s change stick?
Emily has always been such a complex character. She didn’t get along with Lorelai because Lorelai is so independent and yet Emily also envied that quality. She has been a wife for more than half of her life and knows nothing else. The Gilmore Girls revival did a great job at letting her character grow and create a new life. However, will these changes be for good or will she regress and come back to Hartford?
