‘Grey’s Anatomy’s George O’Malley Teams up with ‘the Big Bang Theory’s Penny for HBO’s New Thriller

Two fan-favorite characters from two different critically acclaimed shows are teaming up for a new HBO series. Former Grey’s Anatomy star, T.R. Knight, played the beloved George O’Malley from 2005 to 2009, until his tragic death.

The Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco kept us laughing as Penny, the broke waitress who lived across the hall from Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki). Now the unlikely pair will be starring together in HBO’s new drama, The Flight Attendant

Who else will star with T.R. Knight and Kaley Cuoco in the show, ‘The Flight Attendant’?

Cuoco’s production company, Yes, Norman Productions, will be developing the novel, The Flight Attendant, into a limited television series. Cuoco will be both starring in the series as Cassandra “Cassie” Bowden and executive producing

Greg Berlanti will also be an executive producer on the drama. Susanna Fogel will also be directing and executive producing.

T.R. Knight will be playing Cassie’s older brother Davey, who does not approve of his sister’s lifestyle. Sonoya Mizuno joins the cast as Miranda. Mizuno played the lead character in the Netflix miniseries, Maniac.

Michiel Huisman also joins the cast of the series as Alex. Huisman is most well-known for his role as Daario Naharis in Game of Thrones

Colin Woodell from The Originals will play Buckley. Merle Dandridge from Greenleaf will play Kim, and Griffin Matthews from Dear White People will star as Shane Evans.

What is the HBO thriller series, ‘The Flight Attendant,’ about?

When the HBO series begins, Cassie wakes up in her hotel room, hungover from the night before in Dubai, lying next to a dead body. She is afraid to call the police, so she continues with her morning as if nothing has happened. She joins the other flight attendants and pilots and travels to New York.

Next, the FBI questions Cassie about her recent layover in Dubai. She still does not quite remember what happened the night before but begins to wonder if she could be the killer.

“She goes through growth, but it’s like a few steps forward and 25 steps back. She falls back in her old ways again and can’t really help it,” Cuoco says of her character.

She continues, “The nice thing is that most of the time she’s going up against villains who are worse than her. So you root for her in that way. She is a killer, but those who are dying in her hands deserve it.”

It sounds like Cassie may have killed that person lying next to her in Dubai, but we will have to wait until the series premieres to find out.

When will the new series, ‘The Flight Attendant,’ be streaming on HBO?

On July 1, 2019, it was announced that the series would join WarnerMedia’s upcoming streaming service, HBO Max. The subscription video-on-demand service is set to launch in May 2020.

The production service will carry Friends syndication as well as Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine production company. Greg Berlanti also signed a production deal for the service.

Current HBO Now subscribers who are billed directly through HBO will automatically be granted access to HBO Max when it launches at no additional charge. Those who subscribe through third-parties (such as Apple TV and Roku) will have to wait for further details.

We look forward to catching this unlikely pair together on-screen in May of 2020. In the meantime, you can find Cuoco in her animated Harley Quinn series on the DC Universe streaming service beginning on November 29, 2019.
