Gwyneth Paltrow Drinks Camel Milk But Still Can’t Convince Everyone About Goop
Gwyneth Paltrow is hawking a new product. No, it’s not snake oil. It’s camel milk, among other things. Paltrow has gotten a lot of heat for Goop, her controversial health and wellness site. Scientists are constantly disputing the health information she posts, and some of the products she endorses are just ridiculous. Some of the most outlandish include a lamp that cost over $7,000, and a $425 kitchen knife.
Paltrow discussed some of her products in a recent interview with Jimmy Kimmel. It did not go well. It almost seems like it might be a joke. Maybe we just don’t get it?
Gwyneth Paltrow doesn’t seem to know what her products do
At one point, Kimmel brings out a glass water bottle that appears on the Goop site. Apparently, Paltrow is trying to cut down on daily plastic waste, which is great. So, she’s selling this bottle with a giant amethyst inside.
Why does the bottle have a rock in it? Paltrow isn’t sure. She said she thinks it might be “heart opening,” whatever that means. When Kimmel pushed her a little bit, she said “I don’t know.”
Kimmel pointed out that it’s kind of inconvenient for a water bottle to have something in it that prevents it from being filled with water. Paltrow laughs it off, which makes us wonder if she even takes these products seriously at all.
Some Goop products come in plastic packaging
Even though she says she’s trying to reduce plastic waste, some of her other products come in plastic bottles. After Kimmel brought out the water bottle, they started discussing her camel milk. It happens to come in a plastic bottle. That kind of defeats the purpose of the glass water bottle, doesn’t it?
Paltrow is trying to encourage people to drink alternatives to cow’s milk. There are a lot of alternatives out there, but of course Paltrow wants to sell you one of the weirdest ones. We’re not sure if camel’s milk has benefits that more common alternatives, like goat’s milk, doesn’t. Paltrow isn’t sure either.
When Kimmel asked about the benefits of camel milk, Paltrow responded “I think there’s more vitamins?”
Paltrow prefers running her company to acting
Paltrow hasn’t been focusing on acting. She likes running her own company. On set, she’s not the boss. She has to take direction from someone else, and read lines that someone else wrote. At Goop, she calls the shots.
Apparently she’s so uninterested in her acting career that she’s not even sure what movies she’s appearing in. During her interview with Kimmel, they discussed an incident with one of her Spiderman: Homecoming co-stars, John Favreau. They were discussing their time together on the movie, and it came out that Paltrow didn’t even know that she had been in a Spiderman movie. She says she “thought it was an Avengers movie.” She never even watched the Spiderman movie she was in.
Maybe Paltrow should focus on movies?
There are a lot of people out there who wish Paltrow would stick to acting, and leave Goop behind. A lot of people, health officials included, worry that that her health advice could be bad for people. Her questionable health recommendations include things like apitherapy.
In case you’re not familiar with apitherapy, it’s the practice of making bees sting you. According to Paltrow their venom cures multiple ailments. However, the scientific evidence is lacking on the specific benefits, and some studies show that bee venom is quite dangerous.
Fans can only hope for the best for Paltrow. She’s a great actress. She lights up the screen, even if she doesn’t know what movie she’s acting in.
