Hailey Baldwin Responds to Claims That She Shaded Selena Gomez Over New Song

When you date publicly, you have to break up publicly. And when you break up in the public eye, everyone feels entitled to every detail of the split and to know who you date for the rest of forever.

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber learned that early on. Little did they know when they started their relationship as young teens, that the ups and downs of their time together would follow them throughout their careers.

You would think that now that Bieber is married to Hailey Baldwin, people wouldn’t care so much about his old relationship with Gomez. But it’s quite the opposite. Now, people are paying attention to every move that Gomez makes.

And now that she has released a new song that is obviously about Bieber, everyone has been watching for Baldwin’s reaction.

Fans think Hailey Baldwin threatened Selena Gomez

Shortly after Gomez’s new song “Lose You to Love Me” dropped, Baldwin posted a screenshot of Summer Walker’s song, “I’ll Kill You,” to her Instagram.

Fans immediately thought the post was a subtle threat to Gomez and jumped on Twitter to defend her.

“First of all, Hailey Baldwin SHUT UP,” one fan tweeted. “Shut up Hailey Baldwin SHUT UP. You don’t have a career. Shut up be QUIET, be quiet while grown folks are talking, you don’t have anything going for yourself, you have a FLOP modeling career, LET IT GO.”

“The fact that Hailey Baldwin posted ‘I’ll Kill You’ by Summer Walker on her Instagram story after Selena Gomez released ‘Lose You To Love Me’ is messy and embarrassing,” another person said.

Hailey Baldwin responds

The backlash got so bad that eventually, Baldwin had to respond.

“Please stop with this nonsense… there is no ‘response,'” Baldwin wrote, according to a screenshot of a now-deleted comment on Just Jared’s Instagram. “This is complete BS.”

But fans weren’t buying her apology.

“Hailey Bieber has stalked Selena Gomez since she was Hailey Baldwin!” Perez Hilton tweeted. “I WILL NOT TOLERATE THIS DISRESPECT! Justin Bieber’s second choice wife knew precisely what she was doing!!!”

“Why does Hailey Baldwin always insert herself & backtrack every time she gets called out, and makes it seem like it was all a coincidence?” another person asked.

Why did Selena Gomez make a song about Justin Bieber?

Some people are wondering why Gomez would even release a song like this, knowing the backlash it would cause. But for the singer, it was necessary for her to share her experience.

“This song was inspired by many things that have happened in my life since releasing my last album,” Gomez said in a statement obtained by People. “I thought it was important to share the music, as I know many can relate to the fact that the road to self-discovery generally comes through the scars in one’s life.”

“I want people to feel hope and to know you will come out the other side stronger and a better version of yourself,” she said.

Since releasing “Lose You to Love Me,” Gomez has also dropped a new track, called, “Look at Her Now,” detailing how far she has come since her heartbreak.
