Could Halsey’s ‘Suga’s Interlude’ Surpass the Number of Streams Currently Held by BTS’ ‘Boy With Luv’?

Although Halsey’s Manic is still a few weeks away, the artist shared two songs with her fans this December. Could Halsey’s “Suga’s Interlude” surpass the number of streams held by “Boy With Luv” on Spotify and Youtube? Here’s our look into the songs of Halsey, Suga, and BTS.

Halsey released two songs off of her upcoming album, ‘Manic,’ one of which features the BTS rapper, Suga

After about two years, Halsey is finally releasing another full-length album. This upcoming album, entitled Manic, has a number of other artists featured. One of which is BTS’ Suga, who raps on the song, “Suga’s Interlude.” Although the album is set to premiere during January 2020, Halsey released this song early, in addition to a message to fans on her Instagram account.

“So unbelievably proud and happy with ‘Suga’s Interlude,’” Halsey wrote on her Instagram Story. “This song was very carefully crafted by us. Every production choice by all of us was intentional to provoke a feeling.”

“I wanted Yoongi because I am a huge fan of his solo music and I knew he would be the perfect person to paint a picture that was beautifully tragic,” she continued. “And I am honored to have, on my album, such a song that transcends language and shows that the human experience is fundamentally the same universally. Especially amongst creatives. To be both blessed and tormented. Legend!”

BTS and Halsey collaborated in the past for the boy band’s song, ‘Boy With Luv,’ off of ‘Map of the Soul: Persona’

These artists previously collaborated on another song. Dotted with hues of bright pink, Halsey and BTS premiered their music video for “Boy With Luv” during April 2019. This song also appears on BTS’ album, Map of the Soul: Persona, and earned the K-pop group a few nominations at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.

Additionally, “Boy With Luv” is also one of BTS’ most popular music videos, currently holding over 630 million views on Youtube. This puts it second in the number of plays, only surpassed by BTS’ music video for “DNA.” That video currently has over 875 million views.

Could ‘Suga’s Interlude’ surpass the number of streams held by ‘Boy With Luv?’

Within a week of its release, Suga’s Interlude earned over five million streams on Spotify. Could “Suga’s Interlude” break records currently held by “Boy With Luv?” It is a possibility of this song to surpass “Boy With Luv” in streams, but it is unlikely. Currently, “Boy With Luv” has over 300 million streams on Spotify.

Reportedly, “YouTube confirmed to Forbes that the world’s biggest boy band amassed 74.6 million views in one day with their “Boy With Luv” music video featuring Halsey.” That means it holds the record for the most-watched music video in 24 hours on this platform, a record previously held by the K-pop group BLACKPINK.

However, within 24 hours, Halsey’s song did amass a good handful of plays on Youtube. Within a week of its release, the song has over five million views on this platform. Music by Halsey, including her recently released song, “Suga’s Interlude,” is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and most major streaming platforms.

BTS’ music, including ‘Boy With Luv,’ is also available on most music platforms. Halsey’s Manic premieres on Jan. 17, 2020.
