Why Hannah Brown Says She’s ‘Proud’ of Demi Burnett After Kristian Haggerty Breakup

The friendship between Hannah Brown and Demi Burnett is — arguably — the best thing to come out of Colton Underwood’s season of The Bachelor. The dynamic duo became quick gal pals and have since supported one another on their respective shows. Brown appeared on Burnett’s season of Bachelor in Paradise and Burnett is a frequent audience member on Dancing With the Stars. Now, following Burnett’s breakup with Kristian Haggerty, Brown has a few words of support for her Bachelor Nation ride-or-die. And not going to lie, the former bachelorette’s comments scream friendship goals.

Following Brown’s DWTS performance on Nov. 4, the reality star opened up about Burnett’s split with Haggerty after their engagement on Bachelor in Paradise. And ultimately, Brown is happy for Burnett’s honesty over the breakup.

According to People, Brown is “so proud” of her Bachelor co-star for “being honest and making choices that are right for her at this time.” The DWTS then added, “I can’t wait to see what’s next for her.”

Brown also touched on her friendship with Burnett and what it’s like to have her Bachelor BFF at her side every week on DWTS. The 24-year-old gushed that it’s been “so great to know that there is going to be a face that I know in the crowd.” Brown then shared why she and Burnett will continue supporting each other.

“She’s always there. I’ve been so lucky to have so many friends and family support me each week,” Brown said. “Our dynamic is perfect. I think we are the craziest mess of friends, but it works. We’ve both been through a lot — I think it’s just knowing that we’re going to be there. Whether we agree or disagree, we are always going to have each other’s back through anything.”

Demi Burnett and Kristian Haggerty share details of their breakup

On Oct. 31, Burnett and Haggerty told the world they were no longer together in a joint statement on Instagram. The formerly engaged Bachelor in Paradise couple wrote:

What has always been at the forefront of our relationship is love and care for one another. Our priority is doing what is best for us. With a heavy heart full of love for one another we have decided it is best for us to take a step back from our relationship. We ultimately want what is best for us in the long run and for us right now, that means being apart and growing individually.

We have felt so much love and support from you all as you’ve followed our journey together and for that we are grateful. We will forever be proud of the impact our love story has made and we hope it has helped others feel more accepted and confident within themselves. We hope it reminded others they aren’t alone and don’t need to be ashamed of who they are.

And we hope it shows that two people can love one another in different ways and for us right now that is apart. But we remain committed to encouraging each other, supporting each other and continuing forward in a way best for us.

The reason why Demi Burnett and Kristian Haggerty broke up

After Burnett and Haggerty made their respective statements on social media, Bachelor fans began speculating why the couple decided to break up. However, it seems distance could be a contributing factor to the split, per E! News.

According to the publication, Haggerty and Burnett’s relationship was “extremely rocky.” But, they’ve been “trying to make things work for the last month.”

Nevertheless, Burnett and Haggerty never moved in together. “They were supposed to permanently move in together in LA, and that never happened,” a source told the publication. “They really haven’t spent much time together in the same place since getting back from Paradise, and it made them rethink the whole situation.”

And as a result, the BIP couple ultimately decided to end the engagement. “They grew apart, and once they came down from the post-vacation high, they realized they were rushing their relationship,” the insider continued. “They still love each other but felt it was best to call off the engagement for now.”

Fans may be distraught by the news of Burnett and Haggerty’s split. But if there’s anything we know about the Bachelor franchise, it’s that the friendships created on the ABC reality series were built to last. So given Brown’s recent comments about Burnett, we know the DWTS contestant is going to be there for her friend every step of the way.
