Hannah Brown’s ‘DWTS’ Diet Includes Candy For Breakfast

Hannah Brown has been dancing her heart out on Dancing With The Stars and working up an appetite while she’s at it.

Recently, the reality star told People about what she’s been eating while competing.

“I’m getting a major workout in every day, so I try to make sure I’m eating well-balanced meals to keep my energy up,” she told the publication.

Because her schedule is so hectic, Brown says she has to be “very flexible” with her meals.

“Because I’m in rehearsal so much, I have to be flexible,” she said, adding that she and her partner Alan Bersten make time to eat each day.

“There’s always a lunch break during my rehearsals because I can’t go all day without eating!” she said.

Despite a grueling schedule, Brown always makes time for her sweet tooth. She told the publication that she often loves a sweet treat first thing in the morning.

“I try to eat healthy when I can, but no one can take my candy away from my bedside!” she said. “I always keep it there for a treat when I wake up!”

Another favorite for her since she began competing on DWTS is a big ol’ steak and egg breakfast burrito from Erewhon (after her morning sweet treat).

“Alan has gotten me hooked on them. I feel like they help me before dance, but they probably don’t. They give me really bad burps, actually,” she wrote in her week 4 DWTS diary entry for Bustle.

Hannah Brown’s current ‘DWTS’ diet

Brown told People what a typical day of eating looks like for her right now.

First thing in the morning she likes to indulge in a handful of Red Vines. For breakfast: a breakfast burrito from Erewhon. Then, as a snack, she’ll have some greek yogurt and blueberries. To refuel at lunch, the reality star will eat something like a 5 oz. steak, a cup of garlic broccoli, and 1/2 a cup of mac and cheese. Later in the afternoon she likes a strawberry and pineapple smoothie. For dinner, she’ll eat something like penne pasta with sun-dried tomatoes, 3 oz. mushrooms, spinach and red pepper flakes. For a late-night snack she likes some dark chocolate. The DWTS competitor also noted that she likes to drink two bottles of water a day.

When she can, Brown also likes to eat out at restaurants around Los Angeles. Recently, when her brother came to visit, she took him to a few spots around town.

She wrote in her most recent DWTS diary entry for Bustle that she took her brother Patrick to “one of [her] favorite Brazilian restaurants here and he loved it,” to a Mexican restaurant called Petty Cash (for Tom Petty and Johnny Cash) in honor of her dance to Tom Petty’s “American Girl,” and another Mexican place that was “so good.”

“He’s loving all the food; I’ve definitely done well picking out food places for us,” she wrote.

Hannah Brown’s ‘DWTS’ diet is (almost) dietitian approved

A dietitian, Marisa Moore, weighed in on Brown’s dance diet for People and praised the reality star’s carb intake, which will “fuel her daily dance practices.” While Moore thinks Brown could use a little more fiber (in the form of additional vegetables or berries), she’s on board with her sweet indulgences.

“It’s good that she can give herself space to enjoy a regular treat,” she said.
