Hannah G. Doesn’t Know Why Colton Was ‘The Bachelor’ If He Was Fine With Not Getting Engaged

Colton Underwood spent much of his season of The Bachelor telling the contestants and all of us watching along at home that he was looking for his wife. He was so ready for this commitment, in fact, that he was terrified that some of the women on the show weren’t there for “the right reasons.” He wanted everybody to be as ready to settle down and get married as he was.

Then he began to fall in love with Cassie Randolph. He told Cassie that from their one-on-one date in Thailand he began to fall for her. He said that, after that date, whenever he was spending time with other women he’d be thinking of her. He fell for Cassie hard, and he fell fast.

From the first night at the Bachelor Mansion, Colton had a strong connection with contestant Hannah Godwin. He gave her the first impression rose and from that moment forward the two had undeniable chemistry. Hannah G. (and much of Bachelor Nation) thought it’d be her standing in front of Colton as he got down on one knee at the end of the season.

“I got my ring sized and picked out styles. I was ready to go,” Hannah G. told Olivia Caridi on her podcast, Mouthing Off. “He never gave me any reason at all to think otherwise. He would wink at me and some girls would be like ‘Hannah he is literally talking to you the whole time,’ and I would be like ‘no!’ but in my head would be like ‘wait does not everybody else feel like that? That’s crazy.’”

Watching the season didn’t answer any of Hannah G.’s questions

Watching the season back didn’t provide Hannah G. much clarity. She thought she’d see an undeniable connection between Colton and Cassie but she didn’t. She thought she’d realize that maybe she exaggerated the relationship she shared with Colton but she didn’t. She thought that whatever changed between them would have become obvious.

“I don’t know what changed, if anything changed–maybe he thought it was Cassie the whole entire time and he just said everything that I wanted to hear. But when he told me he was falling in love with me he said it was since the first night,” she told Olivia.

Colton was fine with not getting engaged

There’s also a part of Hannah G. that wonders why she put herself through the emotional turmoil of participating in The Bachelor if the show’s star was fine with not getting engaged.

“It kind of sucks because I’m like ‘why would I even sign up for something and go through all the steps and emotional feels and everything if he just wanted to kind of not give it a shot anyways?’ But that was his decision and I think he’s happy with it,” she said.

Ultimately, Hannah G. is happy for Colton and Cassie. She thinks everyone deserves to be with someone who really, really wants to be with them.

“He has to follow his heart and it comes down to that. I’ve analyzed the heck out of this and honestly, I think it might be as simply put as: he had to follow his heart and for some reason something happened and he didn’t feel it with me anymore,” she said. “Even though it sucks it’s also like ‘thank god I’m not with somebody who doesn’t want to be with me.’ They all deserve the same. You deserve to be with somebody who wants to be with you.”
