The ‘Harry Potter’ Holiday Reunion That Will Warm Your Heart This Season

If you’re a fan of the Harry Potter films, you’re going to want to see this. A recent reunion between some of the franchise’s now-grown-up stars is making waves across the internet. Read on to learn who was there, and why the photo is fueling dating rumors.

The ‘Harry Potter’ film series

This is a series that will continue to live on (or, at least it will if they keep adding on to it) for generations. The Harry Potter books were an international phenomenon, and it only made sense for author J.K. Rowling to capitalize on this by turning them into a movie franchise.

Enter Warner Bros. The U.S. company began production on the first film, Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s (or Philosopher’s, depending on where you live) Stone before the fourth book (of seven) was even published. A total of eight films were made, with the last one dividing up the final novel into two parts.

As the film franchise became a global sensation, so did its stars. At the center of it all are the three best friends: Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint), and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson). These actors grew up in the spotlight, but they had friends on set.

In addition, plenty of other child stars were a part of the series. Tom Felton portrayed Harry’s frequent nemesis, Draco Malfoy. Bonnie Wright was Ginny Weasley, Ron’s sister (and Harry’s eventual love interest). And Matthew Lewis and Evanna Lynch played occasional accomplices Neville Longbottom and Luna Lovegood.

They have had numerous reunions over the years

The final film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2 was released in 2011. Since then, the cast hasn’t spent nearly as much time together, aside from the occasional press gathering (for the opening of Harry Potter World at Universal Studios, and events of that nature).

But it appears that at least a few of them still make time to see one another when possible. Because of this, there have been quite a few reunions over the years, and references to their characters are frequent (see the above Instagram post from Lewis).

A recent holiday ‘Harry Potter’ event

Christmas was always a very intriguing time at Hogwarts — the films often highlighted the holiday season, showing off elaborate decorations, feasts, and the like. And though they don’t see each other on set these days, it looks like at least some of the cast has fond memories of that time.

Felton, Watson, Lynch, Wright, and Lewis were all in attendance at a recent holiday event. They all took to social media on Dec. 18, 2019, to share photos of the former castmates together celebrating the season. With the exception of Radcliffe and Grint, the group is nearly complete.

The reunion fueled romance rumors

One thing avid Potterheads may note is that, once again, Felton and Watson are spending time together. There have been plenty of rumors over the past couple of years of an off-screen romance between the two actors, which came about after they shared photos spending time together on social media.

Previously, Felton dated actress Jade Olivia, who appeared briefly in a scene in Deathly Hallows — Part 2. Watson, meanwhile, has generally kept her private life a secret, though she’s been spotted with a few different men over the years. However, she recently opened up about being happily single and “self-partnered.”
