Has Liam Hemsworth Purposefully Been Holding off on His Divorce From Miley Cyrus?

What Liam Hemsworth thought was going to be an easily divorce proceeding just got a lot more difficult.

Back in August, it was reported that the Hunger Games actor had filed for divorce from Miley Cyrus after eight months of marriage.

While it was clear early on that Hemsworth didn’t want to rush the process, he now needs to get the ball rolling if he wants to avoid paying a hefty fine.

Hemsworth filed for divorce back in August

It seems like Hemsworth can never catch a break when it comes to his personal life.

Three months after filing for divorce from Cyrus following their 10-year romance and short-lived marriage, Hemsworth now has to face the music and continue on with the divorce proceedings.

According to court records obtained by E! News, Hemsworth’s case is still “not complete,” despite the actor and the singer having moved on with different people.

The notice states that the actor must have divorce papers delivered to Cyrus and then file the necessary paperwork to the court within the next few weeks if he wants to continue on with his case.

Proof of the service must then be delivered to the court by the star’s attorney before January 21 in order for him to avoid coming face-to-face with his ex anytime soon.

If Hemsworth fails to do these things, he could face a hefty fine and the court may be forced to dismiss his case, meaning he’ll still be married to Cyrus.

Hemsworth and Cyrus announced their separation back in August, just eight months after tying the knot.

Though the singer’s statement made it seem as though the pair had no hard feelings toward one another, things turned sour once the singer was spotted getting cozy with Kaitlyn Carter.

A few days after Cyrus and Carter’s Italian rendezvous, Hemsworth filed for divorce from his ex citing “irreconcilable differences.”

The actor has just been focused on himself rather than the divorce

While many people are quick to do everything in their power to legally separate from their ex, divorce has been the last thing on Hemsworth’s mind lately.

Since his and Cyrus’ shocking split, the actor has been taking some much need time to himself, away from the public eye.

Instead of moving on with the divorce proceedings, Hemsworth has just been spending time with his older brother, Chris, and sister-in-law Elsa Pataky in their native Australia.

“After a relationship that you’ve dedicated ten years to, he’s a little bit down, but he’s coping well, he’s a strong boy and he deserves the best,” Pataky recently told reporters at an event promoting Women’s Secret Lingerie in Madrid, according to E! News. “I think he deserves much better.”

In addition to his family, Hemsworth has also been spending quality time with his new lady friend, actress Maddison Brown.

With him laying low and just enjoying time with loved ones, we can understand why the actor hasn’t officially divorced Cyrus yet.

However, now that the court has given Hemsworth a deadline, we’re pretty sure the divorce proceedings will be back in motion once 2020 rolls around.
