Have Cardi B and Nicki Minaj Made Up?

Nicki Minaj and Cardi B are two of the most powerful and talented women in hip hop. Yet these days, the ongoing feud between the rappers seems to be getting more attention than their music. In the chaos of “she said, she said,” Instagram drama, and flying shoes, it can be hard to keep up with what’s really going on.

The feud has had its ups and downs, at times seeming like it would finally come to an end. So, where do we stand? Have Cardi B and Nicki Minaj made up?

Cardi B and Nick Minaj weren’t always feuding

The ongoing beef between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj hasn’t always been what it is now. In fact, many people believe that the feud was primarily manufactured by the media. Much of the first signs of turmoil came from photoshopped Instagram posts, embellished stories, and creative interpretations of the truth.

In 2017, Cardi B became the first female rapper since Lauryn Hill to have a number one single on the charts. Minaj congratulated the rapper on the feat, tweeting, “Congratulations to a fellow NEW YAWKA on a RECORD BREAKING achievement. Bardi, this is the only thing that matters!!! Enjoy it💕💞🎀 @iamcardib.”

In April 2018, Cardi B responded to rumors that the two rappers were fighting, saying: “I just feel like it’s really Internet-made-up. I really feel like fans and people, they really want to see that happened, because it’s really entertaining to see people beef.”

The conflict between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj may have started of internet gossip, but by the time New York Fashion Week rolled around in late 2018, it became evident that there was bad blood between the women.

According to reports — and video footage — the two rappers attended the Harper’s Bazaar Icon Party in September 2018. The two ran into each other and everything just blew up from there. Reports say that Minaj purposely stepped on Cardi B’s dress. The two exchanged words, with Cardi B tearing into Minaj for making comments about her daughter. In the end, Cardi B took off her shoe and hurled it at Minaj, but somehow it was Cardi B who left the event with a large knot above her eye.

Shortly after the Fashion Week throwdown, Minaj told fans that she was done with the drama, writing: “Ok you guys, let’s focus on positive things only from here on out. We’re all so blessed. I know this stuff is entertaining & funny to a lot of people but I won’t be discussing this nonsense anymore. Thank you for the support & encouragement year after year. Love you.”

However, it looks like there won’t ever be a true end to the ongoing fighting between the two rappers. Just this month, Cardi B was given the opportunity to put the rumors of bad blood to rest. Vanity Fair asked the rapper whether she would ever perform with Minaj again. Her response? A big, long laugh.

For these two, it seems that they may never make up. Perhaps one of them crossed a line that is unforgivable. Somethings you can let slide, but talking bad about someone’s kid usually isn’t one of them. Is that the straw that broke the camel’s back? Have the two reached a point of no return? For now, it appears so. All they can do now is hope to keep the drama behind them and focus on making new music for their fans.
