In the Duggar family, 2019 is the year of the babies. Jessa Duggar recently gave birth to a baby girl, who is her third child with husband Ben Seewald. Duggar kept the baby’s gender private; though she and Seewald knew the gender, they didn’t tell the rest of the family. Right now, there are four other Duggar women currently pregnant — have any of them revealed the genders?
Jessa Duggar welcomed her first daughter earlier this week
Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald announced earlier this week that they have officially welcomed the first daughter in their family. The couple announced back in January that they were expecting a child in late spring, and on May 26, Ivy Jane Seewald was born. Although Duggar and Seewald knew their baby’s gender, they decided to keep it a secret from the rest of the family (probably because they wanted their see their family’s look of excitement when they welcomed their first baby girl). Duggar and Seewald currently have two boys, Spurgeon and Henry, but this pregnancy was the first time they kept the gender from the rest of the family.
Four other Duggar women are expecting babies this year
Duggar was the first of many family members to give birth this year. She was one of five Duggar women currently expecting a baby. Anna Duggar, Kendra Duggar, Joy Forsyth, and Lauren Swanson are all expecting babies this year as well. The last Duggar baby to be born before Ivy Jane was Jinger Duggar’s daughter, Felicity, who was born in July 2018. After Jessa Duggar announced her pregnancy in January, Anna, Joy, Kendra, and Lauren all announced within about a month of each other. This means that the fall will bring a lot of new family members.
Right now, none of the women have revealed their babies’ genders
Of the four women currently pregnant, none of them have revealed their baby’s genders. Most genders are discovered around 18-22 weeks, but it depends on the position of the baby during the ultrasound. It’s possible that not all of the women are far enough long yet to have learned their baby’s genders, but it’s also possible that they have chosen to keep things quiet for now. This is Anna Duggar’s sixth child, so she’s done this plenty of times. Lauren Swanson, on the other hand, is about to welcome her first (she previously had a heartbreaking miscarriage), and the excitement of that first baby might warrant a gender reveal.
The Duggars don’t always have gender reveals
Every Duggar is different, and while some of them choose to have gender reveal announcements, not all of them do. Jessa Duggar might have chosen to keep her third baby’s gender a secret, but Jinger Duggar had an exciting gender reveal last year with husband Jeremy Vuolo. It consisted of their family and friends being split between two teams and having to complete an obstacle course. The winning team got to flip a switch that lit up a neon “baby” sign in pink. The couple then sprayed everyone with pink silly string. For other Duggars, the excitement comes when the family learns of the gender on the day of the baby’s birth.
