Heidi Klum was born on June 1, 1973, in Germany. She began modeling at the age of 18 after winning a contest in Germany. Klum didn’t always plan on becoming a model. Before taking the top spot in the contest, she had plans to become a designer.   

Awards and recognitions

Klum gained attention after appearing on the cover of the 1998 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. In 1999, she became the first German model to become a Victoria’s Secret Angel. In 2013, Klum won a Primetime Emmy Award for outstanding host for a reality or reality-competition program. The model has also been nominated for many awards, including a Teen Choice Award, Online Film & Television Association Award, and German Television Award.

In 1997 Klum married hairstylist Ric Pipino, but they later divorced in 2002. After that, Klum dated Italian racecar team manager Flavio Briatore. That relationship resulted in the birth of Klum’s first child, Leni. After they parted ways, Klum dated singer Seal. The pair married in 2005 and divorced in 2014. In 2018, Klum got engaged to musician Tom Kaulitz. He is the guitarist, backup singer, and keyboard player for the rock group Tokio Hotel.

Klum told People she’s very much in love with Kaulitz. “He is the kindest, sweetest, most caring, loving person. I feel so lucky. I don’t know the last time I was this happy in my life,” she said. “He is absolutely wonderful. Maybe it is because he is German and we understand each other in a different way. But so far so good.”

Klum has many sources of income. One way she earns money is from hosting and judging jobs. She has served as the host and judge of Project Runway and is a judge on America’s Got Talent.

Klum also makes money as an actress. One of her early acting roles was in a 1998 episode of The Larry Sanders Show titled “I Buried Sid.” She also had a recurring role on the TV series Spin City, starring Michael J. Fox. Other acting credits include Blow Dry, Sex and the City, Zoolander, How I Met Your Mother, and Parks and Recreation.

Klum also earns money as a producer. She has produced several shows including Project Runway: All-Star Challenge (2009), Models of the Runway (2009-2010), Seriously Funny Kids (2011), After the Runway (2011), and Project Runway (2004-2017).

What’s next for Heidi Klum

Klum and fellow Project Runway host Tim Gunn are gearing up for a new Amazon series. They signed a deal to develop a new fashion-themed reality show for Amazon Studios. Sources told Variety that Amazon opened a process for production companies to compete to oversee the show.
