‘Bridgerton’ cast future for season 2

Bridgerton Season 1 was a huge success. Over 80 million households around the world have watched the show. Though season 1 focused largely on Daphne Bridgerton and Simon Basset, The Duke of Hasting’s, relationship, season 2 will go in a different route.

“I feel like the first season was primarily about Daphne and her love story with Simon,” showrunner Chris Van Dusen told Collider. “But, this being a family of eight children and there being eight books, I would love to be able to focus and really tell stories and love stories for all the Bridgerton siblings. For each character, for sure.”

Bridgerton was modeled after an eight-novel series by author, Julia Quinn. The second book in the series, The Viscount Who Loved Me, focuses on Anthony Bridgerton.

“It’s interesting,” Van Dusen said of season 1’s main couple. “I think it’s too early to tell right now. I think that we’re along for the ride of Daphne and Simon’s love story this first season. And, I think we’ve done some work in Season 1 to set up other characters. We really dig into Anthony’s love story. We’re really exploring Benedict as well, and Collin, and Eloise relationship. I think it’s a deep well of story for us to explore.”

But that doesn’t mean that we won’t get to see our beloved Daphne in season 2. In fact, she might play a role in her brother’s love life as he did with hers.

“I genuinely don’t know anything, first off. It’s all top secret,” Phoebe Dynevor, who plays Daphne, told Glamour. “But I would like to see her get more involved in her brother Anthony’s love life. I think it’s her time to get him back. And I’d like to explore a bit more of Daphne and Simon’s relationship. I really liked that it ended on a happy ending, but life isn’t one happy ending. I’d like to see what other hurdles they have to jump over.”

Is ‘Bridgerton’ Season 2 filming?

When Netflix announced that the show would be returning for season 2 with a clever notice from Lady Whistledown, they revealed that filming would begin in Spring 2021.

“The incomparable cast of ‘Bridgerton’ will return to production in the Spring of 2021,” the note reads. “This author has been reliably informed that Lord Anthony Bridgerton intends to dominate the social season. I will have my pen ready to report on any and all of his romantic activities.”

Though most fans assumed that Spring meant late March, the timeline may have been pushed up a bit. Dynevor has already died her normally blonde locks back to Daphne’s signature red, according to photos released by Daily Mail. This could mean that Dynevor is already gearing up to get back to work.
